Back in June, it was announced that Scooter Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings, had acquired Taylor Swift's former record label, Big Machine, for $300 million. Taylor went on to like numerous scathing posts about Scooter and her former record label boss Scott Brochetta, before revealing last month that she intended to rerecord her masters in 2020. Then, in a new interview with Rolling Stone published last week, Taylor finally opened up in detail about her anger over the sale. http://instagram.com/p/B1hDVgrDNOl She said: "Here's the thing: Everyone in my team knew if Scooter Braun brings us something, do not bring it to me. The fact that those two are in business together after the things [Scott] said about Scooter Braun — it's really hard to shock me. And this was utterly shocking." "These are two very rich, very powerful men using $300 million of other people's money to purchase the most feminine body of work," she continued. "And then they're standing in a wood-panel bar doing a tacky photo shoot, raising a glass of scotch to themselves."

Taylor Swift had planned to perform a medley of hits from throughout her career at the upcoming American Music Awards. But the singer is saying that Scooter Braun, a talent manager who now owns the rights to her old albums, won’t let her. NBC’s Stephanie Gosk reports for TODAY. In case you missed it, Taylor Swift has spoken out in denouncement of former record label boss, Scott Borchetta, and his new business partner, Scooter Braun, for the second time in five months. Back in June, Taylor expressed devastation that her former record label, Big Machine, had been sold to Scooter for $300 million, meaning that he would own all of her master recordings "in perpetuity".

Taylor Swift made headlines when she alleged on Twitter that two men at Big Machine Records (her former label), Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, were holding her catalog of music hostage unless she met their demands. According to Taylor, Braun and Borchetta were refusing to let her perform a medley of her old songs at the upcoming American Music Awards (where she's set to be honored as Artist of the Decade) unless she promised to never re-record her masters, and never speak badly about the two men to the press. Taylor concluded her statement by asking her fans for help. She urged them to reach out to some of the artists Braun manages so that they might intervene — a list that includes Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato. And while Ariana and Demi have remained silent on the matter, Justin Bieber just addressed it with a single screenshot on his Instagram Story:

Scooter Braun’s Nashville, Tenn., office was shut Friday following threats allegedly sparked by Taylor Swift’s claim she was being bullied and barred from performing her old hits. Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, was deluged with calls after Swift alleged that he and Big Machine Label Group co-founder Scott Borchetta were preventing her from performing her hits at the American Music Awards, and refused to permit her music to be used in a Netflix doc. She had asked her fans, “Please let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this.” Big Machine has denied Swift’s claims they tried to block her from performing certain songs at the AMAs or in her Netflix special and said, “Despite our persistent efforts to find a private and mutually satisfactory solution, Taylor made a unilateral decision . . . to enlist her fan base in a calculated manner that greatly affects the safety of our employees and their families.” Nashville Police said no threats were reported. Swift’s team doubled down on her claims, “Scott Borchetta . . . flatly denied the request for both the AMAs and Netflix.” The star also claimed he told her she could only use her music if she agreed not to re-record her masters and “stop talking about him and Scooter Braun.”

One music insider tells Page Six, “Taylor will turn her AMA performance into a huge moment, and a powerful message.
