The ice show Denis Ten and Friends. Olympic Energy turned into an unforgettable experience for the guests of the show in Almaty. Olympic champions, World champions and winners of European and national competitions arrived to Almaty to perform their best routines. The ice show started with a joint dance routine lead by Denis Ten. The performance was followed by Canadian Joannie Rochette, Russian talents Maxim Marinin and Tatiana Totmyanina, Brian Joubert of France and a dance couple Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat. Carolina Kostner’s Ave Maria routine was one of the brightest performances among all the wondrous routines of the show. Back at the Sochi Olympics the audience burst with applauds to Italian ice skater’s passionate performance. But the true highlight of the show was the ice battle between old rivals Denis Ten and Daisuke Takahashi. The double DT as they called themselves tried to outclass one another performing spins and complex elements to an accompaniment of drums. #Denis Ten#daisuke takahashi#Denis Ten & Friends Show 2014 The audience was lucky to see the performance of the Japanese Mao Asada and Evan Lysacek from the U.S. as they were performing for the first time in a show outside their countries. The audience was ecstatic and joyfully applauded all ice skaters and artists. There were also over 300 people who came from Japan, South Korea and China to support the figure skaters. Figure skating is gaining its popularity in Asia at the moment.

@polinaedmunds ladies in white ❄️ @mskostner With the day of the show rapidly approaching, the cast and crew of “An Evening on Ice” is currently hard at work on all the preparations for the US Athletic Foundation’s fundraising event. Preparations that begin roughly six months before the show when Nick and Tricia LaRoche, the team of siblings behind the foundation, start extending invitations to the skaters in order to get a rough shell of a cast. Even though this year they fell a bit behind due to the Olympic Games and the World Championships, the 4th Annual “An Evening on Ice” promises to be the best one yet. The stellar lineup of skaters this year includes four Olympic medalists, eleven Olympians, twelve national champions and eighteen international medalists. The US Athletic Foundation is split into two sections. They have a general fund where they raise money through events like “An Evening on Ice” and then award the skaters with assistance. They also help skaters who have their own donors and sponsors by paying their training expenses so the sponsor can be comfortable knowing the money is being used for the right reasons. They work hand in hand with the donors and the clients who need to be paid. Tricia takes on the deed of finances since she is a full time accountant, while Nick works mainly on the show and other small events to get more funding into the foundation. Since Nick is the former skater, he understands the logistics side and how to make the show come together. Some of the ladies from @aneveningonice @polinaedmunds Alissa, and @rachaelflatt “An Evening On Ice” will be hosted by World Champions and Olympians Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner and will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California, with two performances. Tickets can be bought online at www.usathleticfoundation.org. The cast includes 2014 Olympic Bronze Medalist Carolina Kostner of Italy, 2014 Olympic U.S. Team Bronze medalist Ashley Wagner, 2014 U.S. Olympians Polina Edmunds and Madison Chock and Evan Bates, 2014 Olympic Team Silver medalists and two-time World Bronze medalists Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford of Canada, Alissa Czisny, Rachael Flatt, Adam Rippon, Douglas Razzano, and many more. We leave you with Nick’s message to all figure skating fans who would like to help support the athletes: “If people want to help the best way for us is spread the word. We know not everyone is able to attend the event or make a donation so we ask people to keep spreading the word so that we do sell these two shows out and get the most amount of money into the fund as possible.”

The show stars 2014 Olympic gold medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White and, along with Wagner, features several members of the 2016 U.S. World team, including 2016 World silver medalists Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani, 2016 World bronze medalists Madison Chock & Evan Bates, and 2016 U.S. champions Gracie Gold and Adam Rippon. Rounding out the cast are four-time U.S. champion Jeremy Abbott, 2011 U.S. champion Ryan Bradley, and two-time U.S. silver medalist Polina Edmunds. The U.S. tour will have a limited run, only making stops in six cities–Hershey, PA; Portland, ME; Chicago, IL; St. Paul, MN; Anaheim, CA; and San Jose, CA. The cities for the U.S. tour were chosen based on previous ticket sales. Prior to joining the cast, immediately after Boston, Wagner returned home to California where she learned her new show program, “Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande. The program was choreographed by fellow 2014 Olympian and friend, Jeremy Abbott. While in California, Wagner says she also did some training. Just last week, Wagner learned that she was the fans’ choice for the inaugural Team Challenge Cup in Spokane, Washington, April 22-24, meaning her competitive season has been extended. Following a few days in California, Wagner then flew out to New York City, along with Adam Rippon and Maia and Alex Shibutani, to attend the Figure Skating in Harlem Gala in which Meryl Davis and Charlie White were honored on April 11. Immediately following the event, the six of them joined the rest of their Stars on Ice castmates in Hershey to begin rehearsals for the show. “We have been given some time to train while we are here,” Wagner said when talking about her schedule. “It has been hard because we had 12-hour rehearsal days and then we train after that, it has been really tough.” “We have barely had a day off,” she added. “We are exhausted. We are so tired.”

Figure skating fans that missed the 2016 U.S. National Championships last month won’t have to wait long to see the winners perform again. In all, six medalists, including the Men’s, Ladies’ and Ice Dance champions, will join the 2016 Stars on Ice tour. The show will visit Anaheim on Saturday, May 7 for a 7:30 PM performance at Honda Center. Gracie Gold reclaimed her place as U.S. National Champion in an exhilaratingly close victory over Polina Edmunds, with last year’s champion, Ashley Wagner finishing third. All three will join the tour after competing in Boston at the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships. They will perform alongside the brother/sister 2016 U.S. National Champions Ice Dance team of Maia & Alex Shibutani, and the couple they bested, 2015 U.S. National Champions Madison Chock & Evan Bates. Adam Rippon, fresh off his back-to-back World Junior Championships, skated as a guest during the Stars on Ice show in Wilkes-Barre, PA near his hometown of Scranton, in 2009. Now, after finally succeeding at becoming the Men’s U.S. National Champion, Adam joins the cast for the entire 2016 tour.
