A major land and air search for missing Chloe Campbell is continuing, almost a day after she went missing. The father of a three-year-old girl still missing after after she was abducted from her home in remote southeast Queensland believes she was taken by someone who knows the family. Australian police are continuing the desperate search for Chloe Campbell, who was reported missing just before 7am on Thursday from her home on Ridgeway Street, Childers - a town of roughly 1,500 people. But Chloe's father Garth is adamant that his daughter was taken by someone who knows the family and is familiar with the layout of their home. 'It's got to be someone who knows me...how they got in, where she sleeps,' Mr Campbell told the Australian Associated Press. 'They knew she was sleeping in front of the TV. 'I don't think there's any possible way she's wandered off. She wouldn't leave the yard by herself.' He said the family usually closed the windows of their Childers home at dusk each night to keep out mosquitoes, but he believes that one of the latches had not caught. 'That's why we are blaming ourselves,' he said, fighting back tears. Police issued a 'child abduction alert' shortly after 9am on Thursday and requested the message be broadcast on local radios every 15 minutes. Police close the Childers street where Chloe Campbell was abducted. By early Thursday afternoon, about 40 State Emergency Service personnel had been called in to help police search the grounds, the school and surrounding streets. District Inspector Kev Guteridge said dams, paddocks and open bushland were also being searched, with the RACQ helicopter in the air to assist the hunt. “That search will continue until dark tonight,” he said. “We do hold very serious concerns for the safety of the little girl.”

A three-year-old girl who vanished from her bed overnight has been found alive and well. Police feared Chloe Campbell had been snatched from her home in Childers, Queensland, after her father discovered her missing on Thursday morning. But police say they discovered her "quite randomly" at the local showground at around 1am local time (4pm UK time). She was reunited with her parents and taken to a nearby hospital to undergo checks. Inspector Kevin Guthridge told ABC: "It's one of those dreams that came true ... the greatest possible outcome for everyone." Her father, Garth Campbell, had said Chloe, who normally sleeps in the living room, had vanished along with her sleeping bag and stuffed, blue toy dog. He had said a window was open and that there was an adult-sized footprint on the family's car outside. "I don't think there's any possible way she's wandered off," he said. "She wouldn't leave the yard by herself." Earlier, her mother Tammy O'Donnell fought through the tears as she pleaded with the person who took little Chloe Campbell while she was sleeping to "please bring her home". A distraught Ms O'Donnell added that a "whole part" of her was lost and it felt like she was living in "a nightmare I can't wake up from".

Chloe Campbell is thought to have walked back to her home - around 42 hours after her disappearance sparked a massive search. Police feared Chloe Campbell had been snatched from her home in Childers, Queensland, after her father realised she was missing on Thursday morning. But police say they discovered her "quite randomly" at the local showground at around 1am local time on Saturday. She was reunited with her parents and taken to a nearby hospital to undergo checks. Hours after making an emotional appeal for information, the girl's mother, Tammy O'Donnell, described her joy at being reunited with her daughter. She said: "There is no other word to really describe how I am feeling. Just overjoyed. "I ran into the room... I didn't care if she woke up or not. And then I just lay on the bed with her and gave her cuddles for a while." But behind the joy is a mystery over where the girl has been and with whom. Police won't say whether Chloe was wearing the same clothes as when she disappeared. They also continued to roam the area with sniffer dogs after she was found. Chloe was last seen sleeping in the living room of her family home with her two older sisters on Wednesday evening. Her father, Garth Campbell, said Chloe had vanished along with her sleeping bag and stuffed, blue toy dog. He had said a window was open and that there was an adult-sized footprint on the family's car outside. "I don't think there's any possible way she's wandered off," he said. "She wouldn't leave the yard by herself."

Police are looking into new leads behind the kidnapping of Chloe Campbell. Pippa Bradshaw and Dr Michael Carr-Gregg report. News broadcaster 7News is reporting that little Chloe Campbell was a pawn in a blackmail bid to force her father to settle a drug deb involving thousands of dollars worth of speed. The three-year-old was snatched from her home in Childers, Queensland at 7am last Thursday, sparking a huge search by volunteers and police helicopters. But in the early hours of Saturday morning - 42 hours after her disappearance - the little tot was found in a park adjacent to her home. Her dad Garth Campbell was inconsolable and from the beginning, he was certain the youngster had been abducted, and the kidnapper knew his family. But he stopped short of revealing more. Now family pal Melissa Small has told reporters that there was a threat against Mr Campbell nine weeks ago. She said the family suspected the person or people involved in that threat had taken Chloe and were close friends of the family trying to “scare” Mr Campbell. “They’ve done this to scare Garth. Garth has been very scared and this is why he is a mess,” said Ms Small. “They’re just messed up people. They need to not be on the street they need to not have children in their care. If they are the people, they are close family friends.”
