Billie Eilish swept the top categories at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards as she and brother/recording partner Finneas O’Connell took home six out of the seven awards they were nominated for. Eilish became only the second artist in history to nab new artist, song of the year, record of the year and album of the year. She also won pop vocal album while O’Connell earned producer of the year and engineered album (both non-classical).
Lizzo had a stellar Grammy debut as well. After opening the show with a Kobe Bryant tribute and an energetic rendition of “Truth Hurts,” she picked up trophies for pop solo performance, traditional R&B performance and urban contemporary album. Tyler, the Creator won his first Grammy on Sunday in the rap album category, beating 21 Savage, YBN Cordae, Meek Mill and Dreamville.
Nipsey Hussle earned two posthumous awards. Along with a tribute performance in his honor, the late rapper was remembered in speeches after winning rap performance for “Racks in the Middle” as well as rap/sung performance for “Higher.”
