Somehow, this season of The Masked Singer is already winding down. Two singers went home tonight as Group B returned for one last battle and only two Group B singers get to head to the Super Six—Seahorse and Crocodile. Serpent and Whatchamacallit were sent home tonight, and we certainly had not guessed who they were even if some of the panelists managed it. Whatchamacallit was the first to take off his mask, and Ken Jeong has never been so exuberant. For once, he was right on the money with his guess of rapper and athlete Lonzo Ball. The Serpent was a bit more surprising, since many people have assumed all season that he was a Hamilton cast member or someone of that sort of Broadway caliber. But actually, as Nicole Scherzinger guessed correctly, he's a real-life surgeon named Dr. Elvis Francois who went viral earlier on in the pandemic for performing "Imagine." He and Nicole later performed a song together (virtually), which helped her figure out who he was. Former doctor Ken even cried when Serpent took off his mask, and while there was a momentary disappointment that he wasn't actually a cast member from Hamilton, it feels like Dr. Elvis may have a bright singing career ahead of him if he wants one. He could become a cast member from Hamilton. Seahorse and Crocodile will join Sun, Popcorn and whoever makes it through from Group C in the Super Six and have a chance of winning it all. Scroll down to see the clues for everyone remaining in the competition!

Season 4 was the vocally strongest and most competitive Masked Singer season ever, so much so that even powerhouses Tori Kelly and Taylor Dayne didn’t make it to this week’s finale. But the top three that did face off in the final show this Wednesday made for the “best finale ever,” according to judge Ken Jeong — with the rightful champion, the golden-throated Sun, certainly taking her place in Masked Singer history as the best vocalist to ever take home the Golden Mask trophy.
So, this is hardly a spoiler alert for those who haven’t yet watched the finale, as everyone — the judges, viewers, bloggers, myself, my cat — figured out that the Sun was LeAnn Rimes pretty much from episode one. Besides the many obvious clues about child stardom, country living, tabloid scandals, new age practices, and the color “blue,” the solar superstar’s voice was instantly identifiable. (On Season 4’s premiere, the Sun covered “Cuz I Love You,” which LeAnn’s fans were quick to point out sounded exactly like a recently resurfaced YouTube video of LeAnn singing that Lizzo hit on her tour bus.)
But it was in later episodes, when the Sun dug deep into her years of pain and healing to belt passionate, vulnerable ballads, that she became the clear frontrunner of Season 4. Her haunting, almost entirely a cappella Billie Eilish cover on the Super Six semifinals was in fact the most stunning performance in Masked Singer history, leaving all of the judges in tears and for a few minutes transforming this bonkers, guilty-pleasure novelty show into something serious and so much grander. This week, LeAnn won with an equally sublime cover of Brandi Carlile’s “The Story,” which she dedicated to her “sol-mate,” a.k.a. husband Eddie Cibrian, a.k.a. “the person who has loved me through some of my toughest times. He’s always encouraged me to fly, and our bond is a testament that love really does conquer all.”
“When you sing, you bring a sense of foundation and security and grace with each and every performance. You have ignited a fire in all of us, so thank you,” judge Nicole Scherzinger told LeAnn Wednesday, while Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg gushed, “Thank you for the gift of your voice!” And Ken said, “The connection you have, I don’t think I have ever had with any other contestant.”

If Nick Carter had it his way, none of his Backstreet Boy bandmates would have known he was on “The Masked Singer” until he was awarded third-place and revealed on Wednesday’s finale. Alas, things instead went Kevin Richardson’s way, as he was able to pull the secret out of Carter, even after Carter managed to lie to one of his fellow boy-banders. “AJ [McLean] was on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and he called me just to chat and vent because he was going through it pretty rough on that show — it is a lot of work on that show — because I was on there too before him,” Carter told TheWrap. ” And he called me and he goes, ‘Hey man, are you on ‘The Masked Singer’? And I go, ‘What are you talking about?’ So I was able to keep him away like a little bit.” OK, so that’s AJ out of the way — but then there was still Richardson, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough to hold off. “And then Kevin called me like a week or two later, and Kevin just comes straight at me, he’s like, ‘Hey man, congratulations for being on the show, that sounded really good,'” Carter said. “I’m like, I’m just going to– ‘Alright, fine, I’m on the show. I didn’t want to tell you guys just yet. I wanted to surprise you.'” So how did Kev figure out Nick’s secret identity? Blame his physique. “And then he goes, you know, ‘You couldn’t get past me, you know why?’ I go, ‘Why?’ He goes, ‘There’s nobody else in the world that has those thighs that you have,'” Carter said. “I’m like, ‘What are you talking about!’ Because I’ve got got some thick linebacker thighs and he recognized that. He’s like, ‘I knew that was you because of your thighs.'”

The Masked Singer UK star Sophie Ellis-Bextor has admitted that she was "rumbled" by the judges before her big reveal. The 'Murder on the Dancefloor' songstress was the first celebrity to be unmasked in the UK edition's second series, which premiered on Boxing Day (December 26) and saw Sophie exposed as Alien before being booted from the show. Speaking recently, Sophie revealed that three of the show's judges actually 'said her name' on the day too, so she knew that she'd been "rumbled". Thankfully, however, Sophie took it as a compliment. "They didn't put it in the edit but three of the judges said my name as well, so I already knew so I'd been rumbled," she said (via The Sun). "I suppose in a way that's lovely because it's my day job and you want to have a recognisable voice as a singer. But I felt like I'd done quite a good job so I was quite surprised."

Hyundai Presents Phoenix's Unmasked Interview | Season 5 Ep. 2 | THE MASKED SINGER [Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Season 5, Episode 2 of The Masked Singer, “Shamrock and Roll.”] The Phoenix sadly won’t rise from the ashes to compete again on The Masked Singer…or to sing again, period, Caitlyn Jenner shares in her exit interview after the March 17 episode. This episode introduced Group B who, in addition to the Phoenix/Jenner — who sang Kesha’s “Tik Tok” — consisted of the Black Swan, Grandpa Monster, Chameleon, and Piglet. And it turned out that panelist Jenny McCarthy was right when she guessed that under the mask was the Olympic gold medalist, TV personality and author. “I’m not a singer. I’m not a dancer. This is not my field,” Jenner stressed in her exit interview. “I thought, ‘I love challenges, why not? Go do it, see how you do.'” And while we’re sad to see her go — “This is the first time I’ve ever sat down first in any contest since a spelling bee in junior high school,” she noted — we had as much fun watching her as she did doing the show. However, she did think that the clues in the package prior to her performance “were a little bit too good.” Jenner thinks she would have had a better chance of fooling everyone if she’d come up with them. “I don’t think I would’ve mentioned LGBT, this, that, because I don’t think they ever would have got it then,” she explained. As for leaving the show, she said, “Don’t feel sorry for me” she said right after the unmasking. “I will be on the golf course tomorrow.” In an interview with People, Jenner said she chose the Phoenix costume because it would be “kind of gender-neutral. … Because to be honest with you, my voice doesn’t match who I am.” She also spoke about what being on the show could mean for the trans community: “I want to show young people that you can go through this. You can live your life authentically and still have a life out there.”
