Saturday night at the Sugar Club, and you would think that, being back on home turf and all, the eldest Corr sister might indulge in something a little…stronger, let’s say. “This is honey and lemon,” she smiles, having just dipped into the first Corrs’ number of the evening. “Very boring.” No worries, Sharon. These are busy times, after all. Second album, The Same Sun, is released this week. The tour is in full swing, too. And whaddaya know? Sharon Corr: The Solo Star is finally settling into a groove. At one point, our likeable host divulges details of a record deal proposal that went wrong. See, Sharon likes to pour her madness into the music (her words, folks). Love, anger, frustration and the like. So if someone offers her a contract then backs out of it before she has a chance to sign, she’s going to get angry. Then write about it. Ears Painted On spills the beans. “Yeah, that will teach him,” she says of Mr Shady Record Deal man. She should get angry more often. It’s an unusual gig. All over the shop, stylistically (a stagnant yet accomplished five-piece band work their way through guitars, uilleann pipes, banjos and percussion), but it’s that surprising touch of versatility and dexterity that helps Sharon Corr (44) and her boys stand out. “This is all about fun and entertainment, leave all your troubles behind,” she tells us There’s a neat, stripped-back cover of Bronski Beat’s Smalltown Boy. The gorgeous Raindrops shows what Sharon can do with just a guitar for back-up. She even makes room for a history lesson — Corrs 101, in fact, as Sharon runs through the band’s “rollercoaster ride” of a career. Again, she’s only too happy to pluck songs from the old bag (Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams, the catchy So Young, etc), and why the hell not?

1 NATURAL GYPSY This double decker bus is my home from home when I’m on tour, and I share it with my management team and the band – a total of ten of us, all men except me! It’s cosy but I love it – I’m a natural gypsy. Coffee and beer are two tour bus essentials, but I never drink either before I go on stage. I’m a serious coffee addict though, I grind my own espresso beans on this machine – I think I could go to rehab for it. After a gig I love a couple of beers with the guys – it’s a lovely way to wind down. 2 FROCK STAR It’s a bit cramped on the bus and I don’t have a wardrobe as such, my stage costumes just hang over the door that leads up to the sleeping quarters above. I have about five different outfits for a tour, but I usually get so keen on one I have to keep sending it to the dry cleaners! I wear a lot of leather, although this sparkly Alberta Ferretti number comes out a lot too. When we’re on the move I’m normally in jeans, slippers and a T-shirt, watching Game Of Thrones with the boys. 3 ON THE ROAD I’m an appalling guitarist – I can only play three chords – but remarkably I write my songs on a guitar so I always have this one on the bus in case inspiration strikes. Sometimes we might drive 400 miles in six hours, especially in America, so you have to have something to do. I miss my children Flori and Cathal, who are seven and eight, terribly so I Skype them twice a day, and if I’m away for too long my husband will fly out with them to see me. I also get through a lot of period dramas on box set! 4 IRISH PRIDE I was born in Dundalk in the north-eastern part of the Irish Republic, so my passport is Irish. My father Gerard’s family came from Tyrone in Northern Ireland and my mother Jean’s family are from Donegal, which although it’s the most northerly county in Ireland is actually in the Republic. So it’s a kind of a mix-up. My ancestors all came from the northern part of Ireland, but I am simply Irish. We’re a Catholic family but that makes no difference to my attitude to people from the North. 5 TOTALLY IN TUNE This was my first full-size violin, I’ve had it nearly 30 years, and I still play it on tour. It was bought for me at auction by my violin teacher after my parents raised the money – my mother was a wonderful singer and she and my dad would play anywhere. It was made in Germany in the 1930s and it has very rich, deep, soft tones like a viola. I’ve got to know this violin and it has got to know me, I play a certain way and it responds to me. It’s been very good to me. 6 MY DRIVING FORCE My mother Jean died of lung disease in 1999. She was only 57. I carry this photo of her wedding day everywhere with me because she’s my driving force. I feel I have to do what she couldn’t – have a career as well as a family. Her father died when she was 15 and her mother brought up ten children. All the boys went to college but there wasn’t enough money to send the girls too. She lived to see The Corrs’ success but didn’t meet her grandchildren, which is deeply sad. Sharon's second album The Same Sun is out now.

It's happening, guys. It's actually happening. Brace yourselves: The Corrs are reportedly on the verge of making a comeback. The Dundalk siblings conquered the world in the 1990s, selling 40 million albums with releases like Talk on Corners, In Blue and Forgiven, Not Forgotten - but they went on hiatus in 2005. Since then, Sharon and Andrea Corr have both released a solo album, drummer Caroline has enjoyed time out of the spotlight, and Jim has courted controversy because of his personal beliefs on matters like 9/11 and the New World Order. Now, however, it seems that the foursome are working on a new album in London, according to The Irish Sun. A source told the newspaper: "Andrea came up with such a fantastic song last year. When she played it to friends, they told her she would be crazy to give it away to another artist. "Jim has been enjoying a creative burst and has come up with some classic hooks and guitar riffs that simply belong on the radio. And Sharon, who penned monster Corrs hits So Young and Radio, has never stopped touring as a solo artist, and has been stock piling songs for this moment." The sibling group sold over 45 million records during their career and now Andrea Corr is bringing the group back together. The Breathless singers are reportedly already working on new material. “Andrea came up with such a fantastic song last year,” a source told the Irish Sun. “When she played it to friends, they told her she would be crazy to give it away to another artist. “Jim has been enjoying a creative burst and has come up with some classic pop hooks and guitar riffs that simply belong on the radio. “And Sharon, who penned monster Corrs hits So Young and Radio, has never stopped writing or touring as a solo artist, and has been stockpiling songs for this moment,” the insider added.

According to Goss, the band is set to reunite after their 10 year hiatus as Andrea Corr has composed a new song that could possibly be another hit. "Andrea came up with such a fantastic song last year," a source told the Irish Sun. "When she played it to friends, they told her she would be crazy to give it away to another artist," the source added. The source also said that Jim got his groove back as well and it would be a shame if it does not materialize. Moreover, Sharon continues her journey as a solo artist which is welcome news as well. "Jim has been enjoying a creative burst and has come up with some classic pop hooks and guitar riffs that simply belong on the radio." "And Sharon, who penned monster Corrs hits 'So Young' and 'Radio,' has never stopped writing or touring as a solo artist, and has been stockpiling songs for this moment," the insider added. Also, Evoke reported that the band is working on a new material in London. Just a month ago, their father, Gerry Corr passed away and after the funeral, rumors surfaced that they are planning to reunite. Sharon said last year that if the band will be back together, it has to feel right. With that said, wouldn't this serve as the ultimate tribute to their father? Here's her statement last June 2014 via Sunday Post: ""It would have to feel completely right. If we ever did it, and I don't know if we will, it would have to be a particular moment in time. It wouldn't be a long tour, just something short and sweet."
