Taylor Swift , who has recently become really obsessed with Tumblr, stepped out Wednesday night wearing a shirt that read: "no its becky." For the untrained Tumblr user, this means nothing to you save for the obvious grammatical error. But for those who know of the Becky/Taylor Swift Tumblr legend, this photo is your whole world right now, because not only is Taylor aware of the meme, but she wants to be in on it. Here is the backstory: A photo of a pretty high school girl named Becky was posted to Tumblr by someone who wanted to tell her tragic tale. Apparently, Becky died at a party by "snorting marijuana" and this user wanted to spread awareness about the dangers of pot. The problem is that the photo used with the story is actually a photo of Taylor Swift from her high school days, a fact that someone swiftly (pun!) points out. But they are adamant about her identity and insist "no its becky." First of all, no one has ever died of a marijuana overdose. Second, who the hell snorts weed? Third, if she did do this, how did that make her die instantly? Choking? Suffocating? Extreme stupidity? The story is obviously made up and they used a photo of Taylor Swift to tell it. She also posted a photo of her new shirt to her own Tumblr with the caption: "I'm kind of rethinking my album cover #no it's becky."

Montreal will become a little more swift tomorrow, with the arrival of a certain pop starlet. It looks like Swiftmas has come early this year for Montrealers, as musician Taylor Swift will on the city’s streets as she heads to an interview on the French talk show “Tout le monde en parle” which airs on Radio-Canada. Tay-tay will be on the show to promote her new album 1989 which is set to release on October 27, 2014. You’ve no doubt already heard/seen the video for the album’s premiere single “Shake It Off.” Lady Swift’s interview will be recorded tomorrow but don’t expect her infectious voice to hit screens until Sunday, when Tout le monde en parle airs. No doubt the pop sensation will be making some tweets about heading to/being in Montreal, so be sure to check out her Twitter for updates and clues as to where she’ll be in the city.

Taylor Swift, patron saint of the modern teenager, has swooped in to defend her flock against their greatest enemy (the standardized test). After an SAT prep book used one of Taylor Swift's lyrics to illustrate a grammatical wrong about pronoun use, Swift issued a speedy correction. The book incorrectly quoted Swift's lyrics as: Somebody tells you they love you, you got to believe 'em. Swift amended the line to: When you're 15 and somebody tells you they love you, you're gonna believe them. However, Swift did not address the grammatical error. A hypothetical test-taker might consider changing the sentence to an unwieldy, correct version, such as: When you're 15 and somebody tells you that he or she loves you, you're gonna believe him or her. Truly, the best lesson here is: Lots of people are wrong a lot of the time; don’t rely on pop music for your sentence structure; and if you’re 15 and someone makes you take a terrible test, tell that person, Thank you kindly, but no thank you.

The pop star posted the news on her Tumblr page Friday, writing that she and her family felt that it was something her fans should know. "For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine," Swift wrote. "The results came in and I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer." The details of her condition and treatment are being kept private at this time. The news comes just weeks before Swift begins her world tour around her massively successful album 1989. The tour, which kicks off in Tokyo on May 5th, will play more than 50 cities worldwide before finishing in mid-December. In her note to fans Thursday on Tumblr, Swift said that she asked her mother to get screened for health issues as a Christmas gift to her, “just to ease some worries of mine.”
