A Metallica tribute band got help from an unexpected source this week, when the members of the actual Metallica stepped in to help them replace a van full of stolen equipment. Washington-based cover band Blistered Earth had their van broken into in Portland last Saturday, with their entire kit—guitars, amps, drums, and more—vanishing into the night. The story made local news and then escalated from there, culminating in James Hetfield and company quietly replacing all the stolen stuff. Sometimes when bad things happen it really brings out the best in people. Thanx to the the attention you guys helped bring to the matter of our stolen gear & KATU and KOIN in Portland airing the story, James & the rest of the guys in Metallica ( thanx guys) have seen fit to replace our equipment. Thank you guys!! Special thanx to Tony D!!

"Reaching Into Infinity" will be released on May 19 via earMUSIC on CD, LP and a special-edition CD and DVD. The follow-up to 2014's "Maximum Overload" marks the band's third full-length studio release with Marc Hudson, who joined the group in 2011 following the departure of original frontman ZP Theart (now in SKID ROW).
The bulk of the recording sessions for "Reaching Into Infinity" took place at Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden with producer Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with OPETH, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, AMON AMARTH, KATATONIA, SOILWORK and SYMPHONY X, to name a few. The band also laid down tracks while touring their "Killer Elite" best-of album, utilizing Lamerluser Studios in London, U.K.; Dark Lane Studios in Witney, U.K.; as well as the band's own Evil1 Studios in Charleville-Mézières, France and Shredforce One Studios in California.

EXIT EDEN, the all-female four-piece ensemble featuring Amanda Somerville, Clémentine Delauney, Marina La Torraca and Anna Brunner, has released a video for its cover version of the song "Paparazzi", originally recorded by Lady Gaga. EXIT EDEN unites all attributes ascribed to the new millennium: cosmopolitan, self-confident-independent and ready to do their very own thing. Despite their diversity, the four singers blend together personally as superbly as they do vocally with their very diverse vocal tones and techniques that go from opera style to raspy rock. This constellation created extraordinary and powerful ideas and finally became their unique plan to raise EXIT EDEN's very own edge: to show the world that almost every classic song can be transformed into a solid metal-rock song. EXIT EDEN's debut, "Rhapsodies In Black", which was released on August 4 via Napalm Records (worldwide excluding Germany, Switzerland and Austria, where it was made available via Starwatch), is home to a colorful mix of international super hits from Rihanna to Madonna, from DEPECHE MODE to Adele, and many more. Still and all, it's miles away from being just a cover album.

When she gets serious is when talking about her music, explaining the need for her latest break: “To make something you really mean, for me, means I have to go live my life for a while, figure out who I am again and have some experiences I need to get off my chest. I need to step away and not feel like a–” she hesitates before saying the next word – “a ‘rockstar’ any more. I need to go be Amy.” “And it’s beautiful, because as much as I’ve been ready and willing to abandon it completely, it always leads me back to Evanescence,” she says with certainty. “I’m very proud, still – more than ever, even – of our oldest music. It’s not anything I’m ashamed of.”

2018 is going to be a great year for heavy music. Already, we have new albums from bands like Watain, Avatar, Shining and Corrosion of Conformity (all of which are, by the way, astronomically good) and more tours than any metalhead would know what to do with. The festival bills look great and, in general, it’s just a dandy time to be a headbanger.
But what about the unconfirmed stuff? The announcements/music that metalheads want or even fear from 2018 that haven’t been confirmed yet, but still feel inevitable? Time to get that rumour mill working overtime, because that is what we are here to talk about today.
Please note, this is all speculation and not guaranteed fact. Also, upcoming releases that made our “Most anticipated records of 2018” list won’t make the cut, because repetition is boring.
(Honourable mentions: A new Bullet for My Valentine album; Metallica starting work on their eleventh record; Skindred providing the best UK tour of the year; Zeal & Ardor making and/or releasing a new album; Australia’s progressive metal scene becoming more and more internationally successful, and Guns ‘n’ Roses not having bottles thrown at them at Download Festival again.)
