Taylor Swift’s squad is growing by the second. On Saturday in Nashville, she brought Mick Jagger to the stage — and no one was more excited than this 72-year-old grandmother. The woman flew to Nashville to accompany her daughter and granddaughter to the concert, according to the video description her daughter posted on YouTube.
“The tickets were purchased a year in advance, not even knowing about special guests,” says the post. “My mom has had a lifelong dream of going to a Stones concert, but due to a serious health issue this past year she missed their tour. It was upsetting to her and a big disappointment.” T. Swift to the rescue. When Jagger took the stage, the woman became ecstatic. “Oh my God!” she screamed. Maybe Mick Jagger can’t get no satisfaction, but she sure did.
It's getting hot on Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour. The pop star's most recent special guest performer is a Swift tour regular (believe it or not) – Nelly!
The rapper took the stage in St. Louis, Missouri, on Tuesday night to perform his 2002 hit "Hot in Herre" – with Swift and her tour openers Haim on backup.
Swift and the sisters (who were dressed in matching white ensembles) performed the chorus complete with synchronized choreography and the track's original voiceovers.
Ontario, Canada, has no shortage of pop and rock stars, and the 45,000 fans assembled at the Rogers Centre in Toronto last night could have been forgiven for expecting Taylor Swift to introduce Drake or the Weeknd as her special guest three-quarters of the way through her set. (Their parents might have been hoping for Neil Young or Gordon Lightfoot.)
"Someone absolutely incredible is about to come out on the stage," Swift announced as the crowd shrieked in anticipation. "This is someone who has sold 20 million records. This is someone who, more importantly, is an amazing human being. I actually opened up for his tour years ago. He's been so wonderful to me. He's one of the most talented people who's ever been born. Toronto, Keith Urban is here to see you."
Over the summer, we predicted that Taylor Swift was on a very specific mission throughout her 1989 World Tour: to recruit every artist with a potential song of the summer to perform said song on stage with her. It kind of came true, but there were some notable exceptions (Jack Ü, what’s good?).
However, Saturday night’s show in Dallas is proof that Tay’s closing the gap. In the grand tradition of bringing out very special guests, Tay welcomed Ellie Goulding to the stage for a sparkle-centric rendition of “Fifty Shades Of Grey” soundtrack cut “Love Me Like You Do.”
It’s not about chronology. It’s about Taylor and Ellie teaming up — as they did in Tay’s bombastic “Bad Blood” video where Ellie played “Destructa X” — to sing a great song. It’s about putting on a good show.
