About a year ago, the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity brothers at Transylvania University in Kentucky released an awesome "Shake It Off" lip-sync video; shot in a single take, it sees the bros dancing from dorm room to dorm room, with parties playing out both inside the rooms and in the hallways. And everyone really commits to the stunt at hand, which is key (and, in this instance, just glorious). The footage soon went viral and of course Taylor herself loved it, and promised tickets to a show on her "1989" world tour to all involved. And I bet everyone was excited as this adorable bro on a wiggle board:
As it happens, that show played out in Lexington last night. And as local news station WKYT reports, the Delta Sigma Phi contingent used the opportunity to do more good in the world. Each of the brothers — 37 in total — were sent two tickets by T-Swift's team, one for themselves and one for their dates. In lieu of taking their sister sorority or something, though, the bros offered their extra seats to Lexington's Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and took one of the kids enrolled in the program with them. "This is just a gift," said Barton Lynch, Delta Sigma Phi brother and one of the original video's producers, "and it would be a shame not to do something good with it."
Taylor Swift definitely remembers where she came from. In fact, the superstar’s 1989 Tour has found her sharing the stage with more country stars than probably ever before, and on Wednesday night (Oct. 21) in Greensboro, N.C., Miranda Lambert had the honor of showing off her ‘backyard swagger’ alongside Swift.
Sporting a custom, glittery 1989 shirt and shaking her hips, Lambert took the stage at the Greensboro Coliseum to sing her country hit “Little Red Wagon,” not showing an ounce of nerves as she belted out the words in a duet with Swift, who grew her roots in country music. “YOU CAN’T RIDE IN MY LITTLE RED WAGON,” Swift wrote on her massive Instagram page after the concert, sharing a series of excited messages in the form of two video clips and a photo of the ladies in all-black ensembles.
And while Swift has been on a country kick lately, Lambert is big on girl power at the moment, having completed her all-female Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour just a few days ago on Oct. 17. Despite a rocky summer, the country star remarked earlier in the month that she’s “never felt so inspired” as she does right now, writing new music for her next album. Lambert will take the stage again on Nov. 4 at the 2015 CMA Awards.
The Weeknd finally answered the one question about him that has puzzled most of the world: what is up with the hair? The alternative R&B artist, 25, (real name Abel Tesfaye) revealed the true intention behind his dread-locked mane in a cover story for Rolling Stone.
Drawing inspiration from the late Jean-Michel Baquiat, he says the purpose for the edgy look is to stand out. The writer described the Toronto native's hair as having "its own distinct personality" — the front portion is similar to a “flopped-over moose antler,” while the back resembles a “tiny octopus.” Maintaining the look requires "just a hard shampoo every once in a while."
Taylor Swift was "Livin' La Vida Loca" on Tuesday during the Miami, Florida, stop of her star-studded 1989 tour.
Swift brought three hometown heroes out at the American Airlines Arena including Ricky Martin, Pitbull and Dwyane Wade on the one-year anniversary of her 1989 album.
The 25-year-old donned a pair of black, thigh-high boots, white shorts and a matching crop top as she and Pitbull delivered a rendition of his hit "Give Me Everything" with Swift taking over the lyrics originally sang by Ne-Yo.
The pop star was certainly in the holiday spirit at her concert at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Saturday night, as she donned a costume herself and brought out a special celebrity guest who was dressed perfectly for the magical moment.
It was Idina Menzel, who not only sang with her that song, yes, "Let It Go," from Disney's Frozen, but also looked absolutely stunning dressed in her character Elsa's sparking turquoise gown and aqua cape.
Swift joined in at the second verse of the song and looked adorable dressed as Olaf the snowman, a costume she wore onstage before she introduced the Broadway star, while performing "Style." Her dancers donned furry reindeer outfits.
"Frozen totally happened tonight," Swift wrote on Instagram. "And 55,000 people sang 'Let it Go' so loudly, it nearly took my breath away. Good times, @idinamenzel." And they weren't finished with the surprises; Mid-song, dancers helped Menzel strip off her Elsa dress to reveal a sexy black corset and matching pants with sheer, lace side panels. Oh my!
