J-pop's favorite metal fusion act Babymetal took the stage in June at Britain's Download Festival, and now fans can watch official footage of their epic performance of "Distortion." The single, released in May, features the band's iconic mixture of death-metal–inspired riffs and soaring pop vocals, highlighting the group's ability to meld two seemingly unlikely genres into one hell of a good time. The choreography is tight and entertaining, and Babymetal brought on two new members to round things out in light of Yuimetal's continued absence. The band also announced today that a "Distortion" 12" vinyl edition will be released worldwide on November 23rd, including a special version as part of Record Store Day Black Friday in the U.S. and Canada. Babymetal have been teasing information about the future of the group, as their official site currently features seven mysterious shrouded figures with the text "Metal Resistance: Episode VII" over "Apocrypha" and "The Chosen Seven." On its YouTube channel, the band has announced they "have a dark side" and their current form is undergoing an evolution to reflect that.

Babymetal just released a new song called "Starlight" all thanks to a combination of Japan being ahead of everyone timezone-wise and MetalSuckskeeping an eye out. You can check out the track below, which will have an accompanying video tomorrow, October 19. So stay tuned for that, which may or may not come along with some interesting new information.
Babymetal will also release a new graphic novel detailing their mythology on October 30, and the group also put out a brand new live album earlier this year.

The Japanese kawaii metal band also surprised fans today (October 19) with a new track ‘Starlight’. BABYMETAL have been performing without Yuimetal – real name Yui Mizuno – since the first show on their world tour in Kansas City.
