Delta Goodrem's career appears to be on the up after a few quiet years on the music front. The 30-year-old singer announced on Monday that she would be hitting the stage with none other than Latino heartthrob, Ricky Martin. The Shake Your Bon Bon crooner told the Daily Telegraph that Delta would join him as his support act for his One World Tour kicking off in April. 'She is a friend, you know, we have become very close and she is one of those people you want in your life forever,' Ricky said of wanting Delta to jump on board. And as for Delta, she said when the opportunity came up to combine every thing she loved - Ricky and performing - it was a no brainer. 'I don’t have anything to lose and this is what you would call a passion project.' The beautiful songstress will only join Ricky on his Australian leg of the tour. Then she'll return to her spinning chair on The Voice Australia in coming months after bowing out to make way for Kylie Minogue in 2014. She and Ricky will put their friendship aside when they battle it out for the 2015 gong with a smorgasbord of unearthed local talent. The latest announcement comes after Delta released her first single for 2015, Only Human earlier this month.

Martin said he hadn’t planned to ask the Australian pop princess to open for him on the launch shows of his One World tour which will premiere here in April. “She is a friend, you know, we have become very close and she is one of those people you want in your life forever,” he said. “I just asked her “Are you in? Let’s just do this!” And Goodrem doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her joining as his “very special guest”, also known as support act. This is no calculated career move. All she wants to do is get on a stage and perform without having to wait until she has a new album to promote. They will sing together during the show, with Goodrem joking about a Livin La Vida Loca mash-up with Top Of The World. “I just want to go on tour with my friend. At the moment, I want to do things I love and I love Ricky and I love performing. “I don’t have anything to lose and this is what you would call a passion project.” Yet the shows could prove an unlikely international showcase for her, with Martin planning to bring influential media tastemakers from America and Europe to see the opening shows of the world tour in Australia. While the pair hail from different ends of the pop spectrum, there will be plenty of crossover in their live audiences courtesy of their time on The Voice.

She released her first single for 2015, Only Human, just last month. And it seems Australian singer Delta Goodrem's creative juices are continuing to flow. On Wednesday evening the 30-year-old musician took to Instagram to inform fans she was in the studio working on some new sounds. 'Studio Days into Nights playing our legendary Rossco the song my talented buddy @jonhumemusic & I working on today #album5,' she captioned a black and white snap, in which she posed alongside Evermore lead singer Jon Hume and their musical inspiration they call Rossco. Sitting in front of a set of control panels, blonde beauty Delta stunned in a chic black and white ensemble. Looking hipster chic, she wore a pair of monchrome printed trousers teamed with a black blouse and matching hat. Meanwhile 31-year-old Jon wore a printed shirt teamed with faded jeans, his signature curly locks on show. Fans of Delta were very excited to hear their musical idol was returning to the studio, with plenty taking to social media to express their thrill at hearing the big news. This will be Delta's fifth album, after having previously released her debut Innocent Eyes in 2003, followed by Mistaken Identity in 2004, Delta in 2007 and Child Of The Universe in 2012. Meanwhile Jon, frontman of New Zealand band Evermore with his brothers, has also produced spectacular music for local artists including Amy Meredith, Taylor Henderson and Dami Im.

DELTA Goodrem and Ricky Martin have become the best of friends. The singer said she has become close to the Latino superstar over the past couple of years. “I just think I’m really connected to Ricky, I feel just a great kindred spirit in each other,” she said. Goodrem will support Martin on his national tour, playing at Rod Laver Arena on May 2. Martin personally asked Goodrem to join him on the tour. “I was like, ‘I would love to’,” she said. “I thought lets do it — I want to go on tour with my friend. That's what he is, he is my friend. I love him and respect him. “Ricky is Ricky. He has this incredible talent — its going to be fantastic to be able to travel around the country and have fun with people.” Goodrem is working on a new album to be released this year, her first since Child Of The Universe in 2012.

They compete against each other on The Voice Australia, but on Thursday Ricky Martin and Delta Goodrem teamed up to create an energy-filled concert. Taking the stage barefoot at the Allphones Arena in Homebush, Sydney, Delta kicked off the night with her smash hit, Sitting On Top Of The World. The 30 year-old dressed up her shoe less look with a black and gold Sass & Bide figure-hugging dress, flaunting her incredible curves, while wearing her long blonde locks out over her shoulders. The Latino pop star showed the crowd he still had it in him while performing some of his biggest hits, including Livin' La Vida Loca, She Bangs and The Cup Of Life, as well as Spanish tracks from his first studio album in four years, A Quien Quiera Escuchar (To Whoever Wants to Listen). The 43 year-old rocked an all-white outfit, before taking off his trench coat to show off his muscular body. While flexing his biceps for photos, Ricky looked full of confidence and excitement as he performed to his new home crowd. ‘This is a very special night because this is the city where I live,’ he said. 'You've really made me feel like an Australian. I'm a Puerto Rican Aussie.' The pair will perform in front of sold out crowds in Melbourne and Adelaide, before finishing up in Perth on May 8. While in Victoria, Ricky will be performing at the 2014 TV WEEK Logie Awards, alongside Meghan Trainor and The Script.
