Carly Rae Jepsen is set to score her second UK Number 1 this weekend with I Really Like You. The track is the lead single from Jepsen’s upcoming third studio album Emotion and is the singer-songwriter’s first release in almost two years. Jepsen previously topped the Official Singles Chart back in 2012 with Call Me Maybe, which became the second biggest selling single of 2012 and has since sold over 1 million copies in the UK. But the race isn’t over yet, as reigning Number 1, Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again FT Charlie Puth (2) trails by just over 1,000 copies at this midweek stage. Elsewhere, OMI’s summer anthem Cheerleader slides one place to three, followed by Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand (4). Rounding out today’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40 is Major Lazer’s Lean On FT MO and DJ Snake (5). The 'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker has revealed she'd love to act as a mentor on a British talent show such as Simon Cowell's ITV singing competition, but only if she makes the move from the US to the UK. She said: ''If I got to live in London, then I'd be tempted to be a judge on one of your singing shows. I love the shopping and people in London.'' She explained: ''Tom was joking with all the extras and kept everyone's spirits up when the dancers had to do take after take.''He got everyone in a huddle and was like a cheerleader, going, 'OK, let's do it again!'' Carly's latest single has proved to be yet another hit but she's admitted she tried not to worry about recreating the success of 'Call Me Maybe' when she made her album 'E.Mo.Tion'. She told the Daily Star newspaper: ''My motivation is to have longevity in my career, rather than having a big hit song again. ''It wasn't until I started getting loads of calls from management about 'I Really Like You' that I realised I might be single.''

Carly Rae Jepsen debuted three new songs off her third album E·MO·TION during her concert yesterday (May 1) in Beijing. Like lead single “I Really Like You,” these songs show what Jepsen does best — sing about love with teenage longing. She pleads in “Run Away With Me” to electric guitars and a driving beat, as if eager to get going already! “I want you to miss me when I’m not around you,” she croons in “Black Heart,” a emotional ballad and personal new favorite. And the mid-tempo title track sounds lifted out of what the Kiss pop songwriter calls “the emotional ’80s” — a key inspiration for E·MO·TION. “In a pop world dominated by bold, highly sexualised characters whose lives are displayed in glorious technicolour via social media, Carly Rae Jepsen felt like an old-fashioned throwback to a much more innocent time; a twentysomething, teen-acting Tumblr Tiffany, almost,” The Guardian‘s Michael Cragg recently wrote. It’s a fitting comparison, especially after hearing these new songs.

If you really like Carly Rae Jepsen, you're in luck! The pop artist will put on a free concert at Blarney's Twisted Irish Pub this Saturday, May 16. The all ages event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The "Call Me Maybe" singer recently released a new single "I Really Like You." She enlisted Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber to participate in the music video. The single will be featured on Jepsen's forthcoming third studio album E·MO·TION this summer. The 29-year-old singer recently chatted with The Guardian about her new album, Emotion, and previous one, Kiss. “I look back and I’m proud of the album but clearly nothing did as well as that song ["Call Me Maybe"] and it was a challenge to get attention on the rest of the B-side tracks,” she shared. “But it was a happy challenge and a problem you can go at two ways; you can either be really pissed off or you can be grateful that you had some attention at all. I did the latter.” Carly Rae added, “I saw it as an amazing gift that has allowed me to take my time with this new record and make sure that I have a really strong body of work and not just one song.”

Carly Rae Jepsen wrote 250 songs for her forthcoming album Emotion, though—understandably so—not all made the final product. While the release date has been scheduled for June 24, the singer didn’t reveal the complete 17-song tracklist until late last night (June 2) on Twitter. The tracklist for Emotion, her followup to 2012’s Kiss, includes the already-released “I Really Like You” and “All That” in addition to songs like “Boy Problems” and the title track. “I seduced them with food and wine and would be like, ‘Here’s a ballot, we’re going to listen to some stuff, you cannot put your name down and just tell me what you love and what you hate, feel free to be candid.’ I find that to be the most helpful,” she said. For Emotion, she spent the past two years writing and recording the album instead of two months like her previous release Kiss. “I just kind of took some time to take some time with it,” she told Radio.com. “I’d rather come back with quality not quantity. I didn’t want to push new songs out just to push them out.” Emotion Tracklist: 1. Run Away With Me 2. E•MO•TION 3. I Really Like You 4. Gimmie Love 5. All That 6. Boy Problems 7. Making The Most of the Night 8. Your Type 9. Let’s Get Lost 10. L.A. Hallucinations 11. Warm Blood 12. When I Needed You 13. Black Heart 14. I Didn’t Just Come Here To Dance 15. Favourite Colour 16. Never Get To Hold You 17. Love Again
