If you’re still processing the onslaught of emotions from Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film, you’re certainly not alone. The video, which debuted on November 12 along with the release of Red (Taylor’s Version), starred Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink as the song’s tragic couple and spanned the length of the newly unveiled 10-minute version.
There was certainly a lot to reflect upon in the aftermath of the short film’s debut (that dinner party scene! the devastating new verses!), including plenty of easter eggs left for fans to decipher. Would you expect anything less from Miss Taylor Alison Swift?
Of course, if there’s anyone up for a clue-hunting challenge, it’s eagle-eyed Swifties, who wasted absolutely no time in digging into the 14-minute film to search for hidden details. And there were plenty of gems to be found, along with some pretty convincing fan theories about some of those new lyrics. Ahead, check out some of the easter eggs and clues you might have missed the first time around — and be prepared to get in your feelings all over again.
First, let's talk about Sadie Sink’s wardrobe. There’s no doubt that the Stranger Things star was channeling some serious Taylor style vibes with her outfits in the film, but one ‘fit in particular was noticeable: in the dinner party scene, we see Sadie wearing a black turtleneck and red lipstick — much like the outfit Taylor rocked in her very first TikTok earlier this fall.

Speaking of outfits, Sadie wears Dylan’s (plaid!!!) shirt after their breakup. As one fan pointed out, in the scene where Sadie’s character is crying in her bed, we see her wearing the plaid shirt Dylan wore in the very first scene. Ahhhh!
Oh, and yeah. About that very familiar moment. Seeing Dylan with his arm around Sadie as they strolled through the woods on a perfect autumnal day reminded plenty of fans of that infamous paparazzi photo of Taylor walking alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. As one Swiftie put it, “they understood the assignment.” Zero lies detected!
And what about that age gap? The 10-minute version of “All Too Well” brought to light the age difference between the song’s couple, with lyrics like “I'll get older but your lovers stay my age” and “You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine.” As the song is widely believed to be about Jake, who is nine years older than Taylor, fans took note of the age difference between the actors cast in the film as well: Dylan is 30, while Sadie is 19. Coincidence? Never.
While we’re talking about men named Jake…did you spot the actor in the credits? At the end of the film, we see a man from the back, watching through the window as the woman (now, Taylor) is signing her book. He’s got the scarf on, and he’s standing in a snowstorm. The credits for the film detail the character as “Him, later on” while sharing that the actor is supposedly named Jake Lyon. Yeah…say that out loud a few times. Oh, and the credits — beginning with "Written & Directed By Taylor Swift" — start exactly at the 13-minute mark. Because of course they do.
