(CNN) On the 21st, British Defense Minister Shapps expressed his "disappointment" over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state. Mr Shapps reiterated that the UK is committed to working towards a "two-state solution".
Netanyahu sparked controversy last week when he made remarks at a press conference that seemed to deny the establishment of a Palestinian state based on a two-state solution.
Mr Shapps said Mr Netanyahu's comments about the need for Israeli security control over the entire Palestinian territory of the West Bank conflicted with the idea of Palestinian national sovereignty.
Mr Shapps told Britain's Sky News he was disappointed to hear such comments from the Israeli prime minister.
Mr Shapps said: "There is no other choice. The whole world agrees that a two-state solution is the best way forward. The British government supports it as a solution."
