Grace VanderWaal is a star in her own right since winning season 11 of America's Got Talent, but that doesn't make her immune from some fan-girling. The talented 12-year-old singer-songwriter has already received flowers from Taylor Swift and congratulatory tweets from the likes of Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres and Reese Witherspoon, but VanderWaal has maintained that Jason Mraz, 39, is one of her biggest inspirations. "Jason Mraz, I would love to meet and just sing a song with," she told USA Today. "I really like his music and singing his songs." VanderWaal continued to sing Mraz's praises during a recent phone call.

“America’s Got Talent” Season 11 winner Grace Vanderwaal shared an adorable photo with “Extra TV” host Mario Lopez on Monday, Oct. 3.
In the Instagram photo, the 12-year-old “I Don’t Know My Name” singer tried to look fierce by showing off her teeth and imitating a growl, while Lopez smiled at the camera. The photo seems to have been taken after Vanderwaal sat down for an interview with Lopez on “Extra TV” last month.
During the chat, Vanderwaal opened up about her reaction to hearing her name being announced as the winner by “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon. According to Vanderwaal, she was in shock, but she was very happy that she won.

The AGT victor teased her forthcoming new music with a pair of photos, showing proof of her very first professional recording session. Simon Cowell infamously called VanderWaal "the next Taylor Swift" on the show, and VanderWaal tweeted him a status update. "I am sooooooo excited about what this is sounding like.@simoncowell can't wait for you to hear it," she wrote.

Grace VanderWaal fans, she's officially in the studio, recording her debut album, tweeting to fans: "I am sooooooo excited about what this is sounding like @simoncowell can't wait for you to hear it." The 12-year-old Suffern singer and winner of "America's Got Talent" looks like a professional and, according to social media posts singing her praises, she's sounding like a pro in her first professional studio setting. After winning Season 11 of AGT she signed with Simon Cowell's Syco Records, a division of Columbia Records, on Sept. 22, and is now in the process of recording her first album.
