On Thursday, Jan. 25, President Donald Trump landed in Switzerland, where he's going to make an appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He plans to meet with a number of global leaders while there. The international forum comes just two weeks after Trump reportedly referred to several nations as "sh*thole countries," which he denies. Unable to accompany him during a tense time was First Lady Melania Trump, who cancelled her Davos trip because of "scheduling and logistical issues." That being said, many are wondering if Ivanka Trump is going to Davos to aid her father in diplomatic matters (which she does so well), but it seems like she's got other plans this week. Responding to a request for comment about any plans to head to Davos, a White House spokesperson referred Elite Daily to Ivanka's public plans for the week. Ivanka Trump is headed to Greenville, South Carolina on Friday, Jan. 25 to campaign with Senator Tim Scott for the recently passed GOP tax bill. They are expected to have a meeting with local Greenville women to talk about the bill and how it will affect the child tax credit, which is one of Ivanka's most important legislative moves. With the help of Senator Scott and other lawmakers, Ivanka helped increase the child tax credit from $1,000 to $2,000 in the new tax bill. Melania Trump, meanwhile, is also on other matters of business while her husband is in Davos. On Jan. 25, the first lady visited the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington and paid tribute to the millions of Nazi victims in preparation for International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Saturday, Jan. 27. In a statement, she wrote, "My thoughts and prayers are with the people whose lives and families were broken by the horrors of the Holocaust. My heart is with you, and we remember." The first lady also tweeted that the visit was "a powerful & moving tour that honors the millions of innocent lives lost, and educates us on the tragedies and effects of the holocaust."

First Lady Melania Trump made her mark on the 2018 White House Easter Egg Roll by choosing to add a new activity to this year’s lineup of events: lawn bowling. The Easter Egg Roll — this year is the 140th annual celebration of the event held by the President at the White House grounds — traditionally includes a number of festivities, most geared towards children. There is, of course, the titular egg roll across the White House’s South Lawn, in which children roll Easter eggs across the lawn with wooden spoons. Government officials, like Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, also read children’s books to the attending kids. And a large costumed bunny parades about for that seasonally-appropriate photo op. This year, about 30,000 guests are expected by the White House to come by, according to ABC. And they were in for a new treat with the addition of lawn bowling. The weather is a bit overcast and damp for Monday’s event, but it looks like attendees gave a valiant go at the bowling, which featured oversized, inflated bowling pins and balls set up on the lawns. (More traditional lawn bowling uses a hard ball and wooden pins.)

It happened Monday in the Blue Room of the White House, which had been set up like a classroom. Mrs. Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos asked a group of 13 middle school students to write on a board how they were feeling. Toward the end, one student who had just written that he feels "energized," accidentally knocked a drinking glass off a table. He froze, but the first lady put a comforting hand on his back. Mrs. Trump said she had gathered the children at the White House to hear about their thoughts and challenges, to "help children everywhere do their best." She began the session by writing on the board her own feelings: "Excited." The children, two of whom had been home schooled according to the White House, wrote that they felt, "respected," ''grateful" and "nervous."

First lady Melania Trump uncharacteristically waded into a fierce debate around immigration on Sunday, pushing for bipartisan cooperation to end the separation of migrant children from their parents at the border. “Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform," according to a statement from her spokeswoman. "She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart.” The first lady's statement stood in contrast to comments made by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who implemented the "zero tolerance" policy that has led to the separation of families at the border. The president has also repeatedly blamed Democrats opposed to his immigration reform proposal, falsely crediting an anti-trafficking law that passed unanimously in 2008 under President George W. Bush for the separations.
