Back in July of 2017 pictures circulated of two men carrying a large case out of Swift's Tribeca residence. Various media outlets reported that Swift had actually been transported inside the box to avoid being photographed, based solely on a description provided by the photo agency selling the images. At the time, fans went into a frenzy over the news. However, the agency who syndicated the photos ended up retracting their original statement at the order of a member of "Taylor's camp." Malik has now -- pun intended -- reopened the case. In an interview with Vogue U.K. published Tuesday, the singer casually said that Swift "was traveling around in a suitcase" as an after thought while talking about fame. The former One Direction member's comments caused Swifties to lose their minds on social media. Some believers of the theory, the self-titled "suitcase truthers," have now claimed themselves victorious. On the other hand, there were some fans who still don't buy that a "5'10 Taylor Swift" could fit into such a small container.

Less than one month after becoming a free agent, Taylor Swift announced on Monday (Nov. 19) that she's signed a new worldwide record deal with Universal Music Group, with UMG's Republic as her U.S. partner. In an Instagram post announcing the deal, Swift posed with Universal Music Group Chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge and Republic Records CEO Monte Lipman, writing, "I'm ecstatic to announce that my musical home will be Republic Records and Universal Music Group. Over the years, Sir Lucian Grainge and Monte Lipman have been such incredible partners. It's so thrilling to me that they, and the UMG team, will be my label family moving forward. It's also incredibly exciting to know that I'll own all of my master recordings that I make from now on." http://instagram.com/p/BqXgDJBlz7d The move means Swift is departing Big Machine, her label home since 2006. Swift has sold more than 32 million albums in the U.S. alone. Even in a streaming world with diminishing sales, Swift’s sales numbers remain daunting. Reputation sold more than 1 million copies in its first week, making Swift the only act to have four million-selling weeks, with four different albums, since Nielsen began tracking in 1991. Her biggest-selling album in the U.S. is 2008’s Fearless at 7.2 million copies. Republic had handled promotion of Swift's singles to radio for several years. In her Instagram post, Swift expressed "my heartfelt thanks to Scott Borchetta for believing in me as a 14-year old and for guiding me through over a decade of work that I will always be so proud of."

When Taylor Swift announced her new record deal on Monday with Universal Music Group and Republic Records, she coupled the long-awaited deal with an unusual provision: As part of her joint contract with the label, UMG must promise to hand over to artists, on a non-recoupable basis, a portion of the windfall from its Spotify shares in the future.
The caveat is broad, if vague. All three “Big Three” record labels — Universal, Sony and Warner — took shares in Spotify a few years ago, and all of them promised at some point that artists would benefit if the labels sold their stakes in the Swedish music-streaming company. Universal, the last of the three to make such a commitment, announced in March right before Spotify’s public-company debut on the New York Stock Exchange that artists will “share in the proceeds” from a share sale.
But according to sources, Swift’s deal on Monday specifies that the hypothetical equity sale will result in payments to Universal’s artists regardless of their account status, meaning they’ll receive money even if they’re in the red with the company for unrecovered advances. (Sony gave those terms to its artists when it cashed out in Spotify shares earlier this year, but Warner declined to ignore artist balances, meaning that much of the money Warner gave out just went back to the label.)

Never in my wildest dreams will I own a home in New York City before I'm 30 years old, let alone many homes across the country. I know, I know, "put positive energy out there so it will manifest itself," *blah blah blah* but come on...I'm just being realistic. When you're Taylor Swift, though, you can own just about as many homes as you wish—and wherever you want. According to Business Insider, Tay owns an estimated $84 million in real estate across the United States, with places located in New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and California. Though Trulia has reported several sales within the last year, you can rest assured the "Reputation" star still has at least 6 homes in her portfolio, despite all the buying and selling—so she's doing just fine. Now's your chance to look at what she's got going on—you know, in case you can afford to be her neighbor. Are you...Ready for it?
