For a man whose songs are known for their emotional depth and serious romance, Ed Sheeran is quite lighthearted in real life. He has laugh-out-loud wit and really is the normal guy he portrays himself to be, which is ironic given he was telling jokes to his 90,000 fans at the historic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. “There’s always the boyfriends who don’t really want to be here,” he explained of the 2% not participating in the encouraged dancing at his concert Saturday night (Aug. 18). “Then, they stand with the other boyfriends who don’t really want to be here and talk about me like, ‘Why even was he on Game of Thrones anyway?’” Dressed in his characteristic t-shirt and jeans, and accompanied only by his guitar and a loop pedal, the simplicity of his one-man band was what allowed the raw talent that skyrocketed him to superstardom in the first place shine through. On his first show in a string of North American tour dates, he performed a mix of favorites including “The A Team,” which he first played at the Rose Bowl back in 2010, and “Perfect,” during which the sweet lyrics echoed over a striking sea of iPhone flashlights. He also threw in some lesser-known gems, such as his favorite song to play live, “Tenerife Sea.” The crowd was composed mostly of couples on date night, groups of preteens with parent chaperones and countless others who have been fans of the redheaded vocalist since day one. Regardless of age or scale of fandom, every concertgoer unashamedly belted the hit songs—“If you don’t know the words to this song, you might not be at the right concert,” he joked before effortlessly delivering his heart-melting smash hit, “Thinking Out Loud,” a tune that was seemingly inescapable at its peak.

England’s biggest ginger – with apologies to Prince Harry — touched down at Rogers Centre on Thursday night in support of his latest album ÷ (pronounced Divide) for the first of two nights.
And the 27-year-old singer-songwriter recalled opening for Snow Patrol at Massey Hall back in 2012, when his introductory hit “The A Team” was just starting to get him noticed, but now it was the Irish-Scottish rock-pop outfit and “good friends” opening for him at what he described as “the biggest show he’s ever played in Canada.”
Even the dome was open on beautiful, cool night after it had been closed for such big shows as Taylor Swift and Foo Fighters earlier this summer. “I get a lot of love in Canada,” said Sheeran to screams.

In a new video from UK entertainment outlet heatworld shared yesterday (Nov. 19), the "Shape of You" singer-songwriter answered "the Internet's rhetorical questions," including one that led to him saying that the chart-topping South Korean septet may be considering working on one of his songs.
"I actually wrote a song that I think they might be messing with," Sheeran responded to Twitter user @moonchildontcry's tweet that read: "I want BTS x Ed Sheeran but when will they ever."
Sheeran continued his train of thought, and gave his thoughts on the band. "I heard this the other day. But, yea, I don't know,” he said. “I really like BTS, though. I think they're really great."
Though there's no word from BTS' camp re a potential collab with Sheeran, it wouldn't be the first time the group worked with a popular British songwriter: Conor Maynard co-wrote album closer "Answer: Love Myself" on BTS' Billboard 200 No. 1 album Love Yourself: Answer, released in August.

Taylor Swift had an incredibly successful touring year. In 2018, she grossed $345 million in tickets sales to her concerts, according to the music-industry publication Pollstar.
Ed Sheeran had her beat. The British singer grossed $432 million, easily breaking the record for the largest haul ever in a calendar year—set last year by U2’s $316-million gross in 2017. At $254 million, Beyonce and Jay-Z were number three. (Pollstar’s revenue numbers are for Nov. 23 2017 to Nov. 21 2018 and are not adjusted for inflation).
In an age of elaborate concert staging and production, Sheeran is known for his comparatively intimate approach. The “Shape of You” singer plays to stadiums with his only props an acoustic guitar, microphone and looping equipment—no backing band or intricate light show needed.
