Glamour: Did Taylor Swift know you guys were singing one of her songs live at the CMAs?
Lennon Stella: It was a total surprise. She saw the mics being set up and thought maybe we were performing for someone else. She had no idea.
Maisy Stella: She even said, "Good luck, girls!" not knowing we were going to be singing for her.
Lennon: We had never met her before!
Glamour: Were you nervous beforehand?
Maisy: No.
Lennon: I get nervous every single time, but this was the first time I wasn't, and I think it was because we knew a lot of the people there. I just felt really comfortable in the space. It was a very warm and cozy environment.
Glamour: In a place with 50,000 people, of course. [Laughs]
Lennon: Yes, exactly!
Maisy: After we sang, Taylor kissed me all over my face and I had lipstick marks! I'm like, "I'm never showering again, I'm never showing again!" But my mom said, "No, you have to take a shower this morning!" I said, "Dangit! That didn't last for long!"
Lennon: All these people came over to congratulate us afterward. It was crazy.
Maisy: Taylor even talked to us for 20 minutes, and when someone tried to pull her away, she said, "No, I'm not done talking to them yet." It was so cute.
Glamour: I can't believe I'm going to ask you this, but you're already so far ahead in life! Where do you see yourselves in five years?
Lennon: Acting is so fun for me right now. It's a new thing. And when you start something completely fresh, it's exciting. It has become a new dream for me. But obviously music has been part of our lives for so long, and our parents are musicians.
Maisy: Most of our family in Canada [ed note: The girls were born in Ottawa] know us for our music.
Lennon: We're so honored to get to do what we've been able to do, especially being on the show and getting to incorporate music. It's the best of both worlds.
Glamour: Lennon, you've had a lot of emotional scenes lately on Nashville. How difficult is that for you?
Lennon: I'm really sensitive to those emotional scenes, and I'm just sensitive when it comes to things like that. I actually have a harder time with the scenes that call for me to be excited and hyper. Those are harder for me. The emotional scenes, I don't know why, but I feel those come from more of a natural place. Acting super giddy requires me to get into that character.
Maisy: For me, it's definitely opposite.
Lennon: Yes, she's a giddy person in general.
Maisy: Yeah. So when I am in a moody scene, that’s harder for me. But me and Lennon will practice, and I’ll get the script out and even read Rayna's lines and act them out. It’s kind of awkward because I’m just kinda talking to the wall, but I think it's getting easier for me as I practice.
