The Figure Skating Olympic winter season starts on August 23 with the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating. The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2017/18 features talented junior skaters from all over the world and provides young skaters aged 13 to 19 (21 for the male ice dance and pair skating partners) with the opportunity to compete at a high international level. The 2017/18 season marks the 21st edition of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating that was introduced in 1997. The series consists of seven events and starts August 23-26 in Brisbane (AUS), followed by Salzburg (AUT) August 31-September 2, Riga (LAT) September 6-9, Minsk (BLR) September 20-24, Zagreb (CRO) September 27-30, Gdansk (POL) October 4-7 and concludes in Egna (ITA) October 11-14. The events in Riga, Minsk, Zagreb and Poland include Pair Skating. The best six skaters/couples in each discipline qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series in Nagoya (JPN), December 7 -10. Skaters earn points according to their placements in order to qualify for the Final. Several top junior skaters return to the circuit this season. In the ladies ISU Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalist Anastasiia Gubanova (RUS), ISU Junior Grand Prix Finalist Rika Kihira (JPN), Eun Soo Lim (KOR) will compete. World Junior Pair Skating silver medalists Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitrii Kozlovskii (RUS), 2017 World Junior Ice Dance bronze medalists Christina Carreira/Anthony Ponomarenko (USA) and Youth Olympic Games Champions (Ice Dance) Anastasia Shpilayeva/Grigory Smirnov (RUS).

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating comprises seven (7) international Junior Figure Skating events and the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating final. All seven events will be held with the approval and the assistance of the International Skating Union, under the responsibility of the organizing ISU Member concerned and in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2016, the Special Regulations & Technical Rules Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance 2016, the relevant ISU Communications and the "Memorandum for hosting an ISU Junior Grand Prix event” latest issue. Brisbane- Ladies Short PGM- ISU JGP 2017 The seven events of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating are: 1st event August 23-26, 2017 Brisbane / AUS 2nd event Aug. 31-Sep. 2, 2017 Salzburg / AUT 3rd event (incl. Pair Skating) October 4-7, 2017 Gdansk / POL 7th event October 11-14, 2017 Egna (Bolzano) / ITA The combined ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (Juniors and Seniors) will be organized for the best Men, Ladies, Pairs and Ice Dance Couples in Nagoya / JPN December 7 – 10, 2017

Alexandra Trusova (13 years-64 days) is the youngest skater to win a JGP stage. The previous record had been set by Lipnitskaya(13y.-103d.) Russian Alexandra Trusova won the first stage of the Grand Prix of figure skating among juniors in Brisbane. As a result of short and free programs, Trusova scored 197.69 points. The second place was taken by Anastasia Gulyakova (181.43). The third was the Japanese Rico Takino (174.16). Alexandra TRUSOVA RUS :Brisbane Ladies Free Skate - ISU JGP 2017 For Trusova and Gulyakova, the competitions in Brisbane became debut in the Junior Grand Prix Series.
