Adult film star Stormy Daniels is suing US President Donald Trump over a "defamatory" tweet about alleged threats against her, her lawyer says. Ms Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, says she was threatened by a man in a Las Vegas car park to drop her allegations of an affair with Mr Trump. Mr Trump retweeted a sketch of the man, calling it "a total con job". But Ms Daniel's lawyer tweeted that Mr Trump was "well aware of what transpired". "Mr Trump used his national and international audience of millions of people to make a false factual statement to denigrate and attack Ms Clifford," the filing to a New York federal court reads. The suit says the president's tweet was defamatory as it accused Ms Daniels of "committing a serious crime" - namely, falsely accusing a person of threatening her.

The key legal question about the Stormy Daniels payment PBS NewsHour The Stormy Daniels saga is becoming a massive story. It’s not only responsible for cornering President Trump into admitting to something that might be a violation of campaign finance law; it’s also turning into a cultural touchstone, with Daniels playing herself to Alec Baldwin’s version of Trump on Saturday Night Live. But to Fox News’s top pundit, Sean Hannity, the story is “old news.” And on much of the Fox News Channel, it’s not even old news; it’s barely news at all. Since the story broke in January, Fox News has given significantly less airtime to the Stormy Daniels story than other cable networks.

Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels, is making the most of the fame she’s found from her alleged affair with President Donald Trump and is dishing details with her tell-all book “Full Disclosure.”
In addition to graphic descriptions of Trump’s anatomy, Daniels claims to have had an uncomfortable encounter with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after a mutual meeting with Trump in Lake Tahoe.
She wrote about meeting Roethlisberger with Trump at her hotel the night after she alleged she and Trump had sex.
Trump, whom Daniels described as chatting with Roethlisberger in a VIP section of the hotel, asked Roethlisberger to walk Daniels to her room, where she alleged an encounter that “terrified” her.

A federal judge has dismissed adult film star Stormy Daniels' defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump. Daniels sued Trump after he said in a tweet that her story of a man threatening her not to come forward with her story of her alleged affair with Trump was "a total con job." Daniels argued Trump's tweet, posted April 18, "attacks the veracity of her account" of the incident and that Trump's statement was "false and defamatory, and that the tweet was defamation ... because it charged her with committing a serious crime," District Judge S. James Otero wrote in his opinion Monday. Trump had asked Otero to dismiss the lawsuit. "The Court agrees with Mr. Trump's argument because the tweet in question constitutes 'rhetorical hyperbole' normally associated with politics and public discourse in the United States. The First Amendment protects this type of rhetorical statement," Otero wrote.
