Paris Jackson is being encouraged by people very close to her to go to rehab, but she's resisting.
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... those close to Paris suggested rehab after what law enforcement says was a suicide attempt over the weekend, landing her in the hospital. We're told the attempted suicide shows some serious underlying problems ... they say Paris is dealing with all sorts of emotional issues as well as substance abuse issues.
Our sources say Paris' team had help ready to spring into action Sunday, but she refused.
TMZ broke the story ... Paris slit her wrists and was rushed to a hospital early Saturday morning, where she was placed on a temporary 5150 hold. We're told she's been distraught ever since "Leaving Neverland" began airing.
As to why Paris was released just hours after she was hospitalized, our sources say she told the hospital that had admitted her that her lawyers were taking her to UCLA Medical Center, and the hospital let her go with the attorneys, but she never ended up at UCLA.
Paris is almost 21 -- she's an adult, and therefore the decision to check into rehab is hers and hers alone.
TMZ’s report cited “law-enforcement sources” who said Jackson, 20, was at a Los Angeles hospital after slitting her wrists but was in stable condition. The site claimed she was sent to a psychiatric unit.
Other gossip outlets claimed she would be kept there for up to 72 hours.
But only hours later, photographers snapped her outside her home wearing a jacket reading, “I’m fine.”
She posted a selfie of herself in her car to her Instagram story: “f–k you i’m chillen like bob dylan.”
The TMZ report blamed her supposed suicide attempt on the fallout from “Leaving Neverland,” the HBO documentary in which two men claimed her one-time superstar dad molested them when they were kids.
The accusers are Wade Robson, an Australian dancer and choreographer, and James Safechuck, a software designer.
Paris Jackson and her boyfriend Gabriel Glenn arrived for their band The Soundflowers' gig in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Jackson and her boyfriend and bandmate Glenn were spotted arriving at The Mint club, days after the star ended up in hospital when she cut herself with kitchen scissors during a wild night of partying.
Jackson's mother Debbie Rowe was also seen arriving at The Mint to support her daughter along with her brother Prince, 22, and pal Macaulay Culkin.
The daughter of the late Michael Jackson, 20, showed off her own musical prowess on Saturday night at a concert she performed alongside boyfriend Gabriel Glenn, as part of their Soundflowers duo.
In attendance at the show to support the model and musician? Mom Debbie Rowe, older brother Prince Jackson and friend and godfather Macaulay Culkin, with girlfriend Brenda Song.
Jackson smooched Rowe, 60, in one sweet snapshot she shared to her Instagram story, writing, “Mom” and adding a red heart emoji.
Other guests at the musical extravaganza, held at The Mint in Los Angeles, included Chris Brown and Runaways star Gregg Sulkin, who posed for photos with Jackson.
‘It took years’ for Paris Jackson to become close with her rarely seen mother, Debbie Rowe, as ‘life-changing’ events finally brought the two together. Here’s exactly what those pivotal experiences were.
Debbie Rowe, 60, is much closer to daughter Paris Jackson, 20, these days, even though Michael Jackson’s ex-wife gave up custody and parental rights of the model and her older brother Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., 22, when they were just toddlers in 2001. “Paris and her mother have a complicated relationship, but they also have a lot of love for each other too. It took years for Paris to become tight with her mom after Debbie surrendered any parental rights to her father shortly after Paris was born,” a source close to the family EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife. The once distant relationship gradually changed after Paris and Debbie’s reported reunion in 2013, as the two were recently snapped sharing a sweet kiss at Paris’ concert for The Soundflowers on March 31.
“Through a series of life-changing events, Paris’s first attempts at suicide and Debbie’s battle with cancer, the mother and daughter have grown tight and bonded over traumatic life experiences,” our source explains. “Paris supported her mom through health challenges in years past and her mom, a nurse, has also been there to support Paris whenever she faced health issues.” Paris had admitted that she tried to commit suicide “multiple times” as a teenager in a 2017 profile with Rolling Stone. Meanwhile, the singer and model celebrated her mom’s last round of chemotherapy in Jan. 2017.
