Boris Johnson has said he can see "a way forward" to reaching a deal with the EU in "all our interests" before Brexit is due to happen on 31 October. But the prime minister warned the cabinet there was still a "significant amount of work" to do, as EU and UK officials continue to hold talks. Parliament will meet on Saturday and vote on any deal achieved by Mr Johnson at a Brussels summit this week. Labour said it would "wait and see" but would oppose anything "damaging". The European Commission echoed the prime minister, saying: "A lot of work remains to be done."

Brexit talks between the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government and the European Union are reaching a crucial stage - and while Downing St remains cautious, there has been increasing speculation that a deal between the two sides may be imminent. The EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier said details must be agreed by the end of Tuesday - with the deadline looming of the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday 17th October.
Boris Johnson appears to be on the brink of reaching a Brexit deal after making major concessions to EU demands over the Irish border.
A draft text of the agreement could now be published on Wednesday if Downing Street gives the final green light, according to senior EU and British sources.
It is understood that the negotiating teams have agreed in principle that there will be a customs border down the Irish Sea. A similar arrangement was rejected by Theresa May as a deal that no British prime minister could accept.

BORIS Johnson has today agreed a Brexit deal with EU chiefs as he heads over to Brussels for a crunch summit. The PM said a “great new” withdrawal agreement had been done “that takes back control” - but the DUP have dealt a hammer blow by refusing to back the proposals in the Commons... The upbeat PM said after the EU signed off the deal: "I am very confident that when MPs of all parties look at this deal they will see the merit of supporting it - getting Brexit done on October 31." BoJo said MPs should honour the mandate of the British people to get out of the EU after three years of dither and delay - and vowed that Britain would come out "as one" country.
