Saturday Night Live held a mock debate on Saturday, which featured a number of special guests playing Democratic candidates.
Maya Rudolph’s Sen. Kamala Harris desperately tried to become a meme and America’s cool aunt, Woody Harrelson’s Joe Biden touted his support from “bl-African Americans” and Larry David’s Sen. Bernie Sanders declared he was the “first heart attack patient to show up to the emergency room in a city bus.”
Chris Redd’s Cory Booker delivered the “rehearsed joke” from the actual debate on Wednesday, telling Harrelson’s Biden, “I was stunned to hear you don’t support the legalization of marijuana. In fact — rehearsed joke — I thought you were high when you said it.”
The real Cory Booker has advocated for completely legalizing marijuana and argued during Wednesday’s debate that the drug was “already legal for privileged people” and that the current law affected people of color disproportionately. Biden has advocated for “decriminalizing” marijuana, which allow states to legalize recreational pot and expunge marijuana-related convictions.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris informs her staff that she is suspending her campaign; Peter Doocy reports. Kamala Harris dropped her presidential campaign on Tuesday after months of failing to lift her candidacy from the bottom of the field — a premature ending for a California senator once heralded as a top-tier contender for the nomination. Harris told aides of her intentions in an all-staff call. A person familiar with the call said she sounded distraught. While Harris had qualified for the December debate in her home state, she was running dangerously low on cash — lacking the resources to air TV ads in Iowa — and her staff was gripped by long-running internal turmoil. Still, the news came as a shock to some of her biggest supporters. Just as Harris was announcing the news internally, a super PAC had cleared more than $1 million in TV ads in Iowa to boost her struggling campaign. The ad, which argued she was the best-equipped candidate to take on Trump, was canceled.

The Democratic presidential contest in California remains extremely fluid — but not enough, at least so far, to provide an opening for Michael Bloomberg, who entered the race two weeks ago and was banking on winning big in the delegate-rich state, a new poll for the Los Angeles Times has found.
The survey by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies found that both Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — the commanding front-runner in a September California poll — and former Vice President Joe Biden have lost ground among the state’s likely Democratic primary voters over the last two months.
That erosion has benefited Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who narrowly tops the primary field, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., who doubled his support since the September poll.
