Taylor Swift fans seem overwhelmingly smitten with her new track "Lover," and joining the song's fan club is none other than fellow musician Keith Urban.
"Huge shoutout today to @taylorswift13 on the SUPERB new single LOVER," Urban tweeted on Saturday (Aug. 17). "When a song so exquisitely written becomes a record so gorgeously crafted I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for the 'art' of making music."
Swift's reaction was not chill: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS THE NICEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER SAID - you’re just the best and so kind to say this," she wrote back.

People tend to throw the word “genuine” around a lot lately. Especially when they’re describing a celebrity. But sometimes, the genuine you hear about might not actually be very genuine. That said, the tweets between Taylor Swift and Keith Urban yesterday? I can verify that both of them were the very definition of genuine. How can I draw such a definitive conclusion? Let’s look at the tweets and analyze their words. First, on Saturday morning (Aug. 17), Urban posted his heartfelt, personal feelings about her new song “Lover.” “Huge shoutout today to @taylorswift13 on the SUPERB new single LOVER. When a song so exquisitely written becomes a record so gorgeously crafted I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for the “art” of making music,” Urban wrote, signing off with his personal KU. You can just tell that that was not a statement issued by a publicist. Those rarely say things like “exquisitely written” and “gorgeously crafted.” This was more a matter of Urban being literally so moved by a song that he had to preach that good news to the world. Then, Swift responded. In effusive all caps. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS THE NICEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER SAID,” which sounds 100 percent her. “You’re just the best and so kind to say this.” She followed up the tweet with an emotional menagerie of emojis full of tears, hearts, prayers, and a cat.

Taylor Swift’s "Lover" (EMI) could be a stayer in the U.K., where the song is on track to become her 14th top 10 single. The title track from Swift’s forthcoming album dropped last Friday and looks set to be the week’s highest debut on the U.K. singles survey, according to the Official Charts Company. “Lover” leaps in at No. 9 on the First Look survey, based on preliminary sales and early streaming reports. Two Lover tracks have already scaled the U.K. top 10: “ME!”, which peaked at No. 3, and “You Need to Calm Down,” which has a best of No. 5 (the third single “The Archer” topped out at No. 43).

Can you believe it's been ten years since Kanye West stormed the 2009 VMA stage and stole Taylor Swift’s moment in order to inform everyone that Beyoncé deserved to win? Truly, MEMORIES. And now Taylor Swift is out here releasing her diary entry from the day in question. “Ahh… the things that can change in a week…” she wrote in a Sept. 18, 2009 journal entry. “Let's just say, if you had told me Kanye West would have been the number one focus of my week, the media, and my part in the VMAs I would've looked at you crossed eyed. [...] And if you had told me that one of the biggest stars in music was going to jump up onstage and announce that he thought I shouldn’t have won on live television, I would’ve said ‘That stuff doesn’t really happen in real life.’ Well… apparently…. It does.”

Taylor Swift's Lover is the emotional, more muted follow-up to Reputation, but that doesn't mean it doesn't still pack some punches. "I Forgot That You Existed" takes brutal shots at an ex who many think is Calvin Harris, while "The Man" is a biting commentary on the double standards women face in comparison to men. On it, Swift names one specific example: Leonardo DiCaprio.
DiCaprio is somewhat notorious for dating a conveyor belt of models in their early 20s, partying with his posse, and generally living his social and romantic life without scrutiny. Swift, however, has had her friendships likened to an elite squad, and early in her career was mocked for the number of men she dates.
In "The Man," she sings about how she would have been perceived had she done these things as a man, and it would look a lot like DiCaprio. "And they would toast to me, oh, let the players play," the lyrics go. "I’d be just like Leo in Saint Tropez."
Saint Tropez, a coastal town in France's Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, is where DiCaprio hosts yearly galas. The specificity of this drag had fans living.
