Babymetal's latest single, "Pa Pa Ya!!," features a guest appearance by Thai rapper F.Hero and the kawaii metal group has revealed another artist they'd like to collaborate with: Bring Me the Horizon. As journalists, we can't help but slap overblown subgenre labels on anything that doesn't walk the straight and narrow. There's very few sounds out there that defy grouping and if Babymetal get their collaborative wish, we may never figure out what to call it, other than "it ain't heavy metal," right, Oli Sykes? "We love Bring Me The Horizon, and I respect the band and their music," Moametal told NME following Babymetal's performance at Glastonbury, where they shared the stage with English group they so admire. Expressing hope toward a possible future, she added, "We want to collaborate with Bring Me The Horizon." Both groups are highly experimental and Bring Me the Horizon have been especially fond of collaborations, working with Grimes, Dani Filth and Rahzel on tracks — "Nihilist Blues," "Wonderful Life" and "Heavy Metal" — off this year's Amo album. For now, though, Babymetal will remain focused on promoting their third full length, Metal Galaxy, which is due in October. Su-Metal opened up about the record with NME, explaining, "'Elevator Girl' started off as being relatively young and over the past years we’ve become adults and this song expresses that. There’s a shift and a change in how we’ve matured to becoming adults. ‘Elevator Girl’ represents our maturity."

Have Babymetal permanently replaced Yuimetal? It’s certainly appeared that way in the past few weeks, with remaining members Su-metal and Moametal performing alongside Riho Sayashi, member of the Japanese pop group Morning Musume, twice in June: first at the Yokohama Arena in Japan, and then, just this past weekend, at the Glastonbury festival.
Now we have an answer this very question! And that answer is… kinda? Yes and no?
According to homicidols.com, the group actually performed two nights at Yokohama Arena, with Sayashi joining the fold the first night and the first night only. On the second night, that spot was filled by Fujihira Kano, who is from another Japanese pop group, Sakura Gakuin (in which the previous/existing Babymetal members also got their start). And that’s not all: according to a message played on the show’s video monitors, there will be a third replacement for Yuimetal in the mix at some point:
“And to support SU-METAL and MOAMETAL
“Three brave avengers were summoned by the FOX GOD.
“Today, one out of these three CHOSEN DANCERS will be selected.
“But who will be summoned is something only the FOX GOD knows.”

Babymetal walk onto O2 Academy Brixton’s stage in an eerie cult like formation. The lights are down and you can hardly see them but this doesn’t stop the crowd from cheering madly. Once in the centre of the stage the three girls are lit by spot light, wearing gothic style warrior outfits. They then go into to start the first song Megitsune. Everything about Babymetal is powerful, from the insane choreography, perfectly executed vocals and killer outfits. The production is well thought out and there is never a dull moment. In the gaps between songs where the girls understandably need a very short break there is beautiful interlude music with impressive light shows. The energy the three girls bring to the stage is unparalleled, they just don’t stop, even when singing very difficult sounding vocal parts. Tonight is the first time Starlight and Syncopation were played outside of Japan and they were mind blowingly good. Babymetal take songs that sound great recorded and turn it into a theatrical show where there is so much else going on complimenting the music perfectly. Their live show is incredibly impressive and it is understandable why they have earned the reputation of being a band that deliver such a brilliant live set.

On October 11, BABYMETAL will release their third full-length album METAL GALAXY. As the follow-up to 2016’s METAL RESISTANCE, all eyes are on the Japanese superstars to see what they come up with next. There has been no confirmed tracklisting, although we do know new track PA PA YA!! will feature on the record. The band have also been playing an as-yet-unnamed new track in their recent shows in London and at Glastonbury festival. “It’s always fun to play new material,” vocalist Moametal tells Kerrang!. “PA PA YA!! is a song where both us and the audience get to shout, dance, and wave our flags around – it’s just overall a very fun song. “I’m looking forward to performing it a lot more, so please make sure to learn it before you come to see us again. On the recorded version on our next album, it is done in collaboration with a Thai rapper [F. Hero]. “The album is going to be a new evolution of kawaii metal – it involves a mixture of different types of music. We’re really looking forward to releasing it!” Speaking about BABYMETAL’s debut performance at Glastonbury festival, Moametal says she knew in advance just how big and “special” the festival is. “Su-Metal (vocalist) and I were discussing in the past how cool it would be to perform there one day. When we were there, I could see how many people were at the festival, and I was just amazed at how magical the experience was. I am so honoured to have been invited to go and play at the festival.”
