After Late Late Show guest host Alicia Keys compliments Billie Elish on her teenage success, and brings up the "Ocean Eyes" cover Alicia posted on her Instagram, Billie surprises Alicia with a 5-year-old video of her covering "Fallin'" at a talent show. After, Alicia promises to take care of Billie at her first GRAMMYs ceremony coming up in January. During an appearance on Monday's The Late Late Show with James Corden, the 17-year-old Grammy nominee had the chance to hang out with one of her idols—Alicia Keys, who was serving as the show's guest host. The two singers got to talking about Keys' cover of "Ocean Eyes," which Eilish said absolutely shook her because she's been a fan for so long. Then, she shared a surprise with the 2020 Grammys host. "You don't even know," Eilish teased. "A little surprise. I don't know if they got this video ready, but a year before 'Ocean Eyes' came out—which is what you covered, which is crazy—I did a cover of 'Fallin'' at a talent show at 12." Excited AF and completely surprised, Keys then had the video play. And sure enough, 12-year-old Eilish appeared on screen in a home video.

Well, there go our jobs and livelihoods as entertainment journalists. On Thursday, Vogue sat Billie Eilish down for an interview with an “AI” that generated some surprisingly insightful questions. Fair warning: As with any “bot-written” parody or spec script, these questions are sort of more the product of a language-learning neural network working with a writer or programmer, in this case, Nicole He. The HAL-style computer voice is an especially charming touch. Halfway into the interview, the AI asks, “Do you want to go back to being anonymous?” and Eilish says no, explaining how she once disguised herself as a normie to go for dinner with a friend: “I was like, ‘Why don’t I try to disguise myself?’ So I put on a wig. I put on just a hoodie and a little bow on my head, and some jeans. And I went out. And I hated it. I hated it. I hated it. It’s so fucked up! I just didn’t like it. I was like, People aren’t nice to me now.”
Kind of wild to hear it spelled out like that. Regular people get treated like trash and celebs get to wear Prada bucket hats and become friends with a robot. Eilish knows how annoying this answer sounds, though, so she clarifies: “I think mainly, it’s that I wouldn’t wanna not be me. I think that’s what it is. It’s not like I wanna suddenly be somebody who isn’t me, and be anonymous. I want to be who I am, and that means that I have to be this way, and live this life.” She added: “I hope that doesn’t come off as cocky. I hope that it comes off as, like, grateful. I have an incredible life.”
She also said if she didn’t become a Grammy-winning artist, she always wanted to work at Jamba Juice or Trader Joe’s, a very normal teen aspiration. Alas!

That's the message Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante and Suicidal Tendencies bassist Ra Diaz are sending with their hard rock rendition of Billie Eilish's Hot 100 chart topper, "bad guy." The new rendition still features the 18-year-old star's vocals, while Benante, accompanies on drums and guitar, and Diaz plays bass. "My daughter @miiabenante would play @billieeilish in the car all the time, when I heard the song #oceaneyes I was hooked," Benante wrote on Instagram announcing the cover. "When this song came out I knew it was going to blow up and it did. @ra_diaz and I Loved this tune and wanted to do a Remix of it. We added some crunch, some funk, some Groove. We like all different forms of music so if Ya Don't like it , keep it to yourself."

The latest episode of Billie Eilish and her dad Patrick's "me & dad radio" on Apple Music featured an extra special guest, Eilish's mom Maggie. The installment focused primarily on music from the 18-year-old star's childhood, including Rob Dickinson, Melody Gardot and, of course, Justin Bieber. Maggie recalled how eagerly her Belieber daughter was waiting for the singer's new music video for 2012's "As Long As You Love Me." "I remember this one really well and the video, and Billie talking about it, and being excited it was coming out, and just crying and crying," Maggie said. "Everyone knows the whole Billie, Justin Bieber thing but this song was a big part of it." “I would watch the music video for this song and just sob," Eilish noted before her mom jokingly added, "I just want to say, we did consider taking you to therapy because you were in so much pain over Justin Bieber.” Besides Eilish's Bieber fever, the trio also discussed a more difficult time in the young star's life as she struggled with her mental health. Those feeling were reflected in her debut album, and particularly in the song "listen before i go." “With ‘listen before i go,’ I was worried that people would hear it and kind of be triggered by it and be offended, but all I’ve seen is fans talking about how much it’s made them feel comforted," Eilish explained. "And hearing someone going through the same thing you’re going through doesn’t make you feel worse about yourself, it makes you feel a little better." Nowadays, the Grammy winner is feeling a lot better. "There was a period where I cried every single day of my life, when I was like 13, 14, 15," she said. "Every single day I cried. And 17, 18 I cried barely at all. I’m proud to say I barely cry anymore and its one thing I’ve overcome. This is a big deal. Not that it’s wrong to cry, but it’s a good thing I feel happier in my life and I don’t want to cry anymore."
