Taylor Swift’s new album, Lover, has officially arrived. So far, the fan-favorites are “The Man,” “Cruel Summer” and “Paper Rings.” The latter is getting compared to Hilary Duff’s album title track, “Breathe In. Breathe Out.”
After hearing both clips back to back, there’s an undeniable likeness. It’s a point of contention in music right now, because artists are being sued for copyright infringement left and right (hey, Katy).
When you have decades of recorded music, it’s bound to happen. But what’s most interesting about the Taylor x Hilary comparison is that Taylor admitted in the past she loved “BIBO.”
It’s also worth pointing out Swift used the line “X marks the spot where we fell apart” on 2017 Reputation track, “Getaway Car.” It was first used in “BIBO” as well.
Look, we’re not going to make a big deal about this, K? Taylor Swift is stanning Hilary Duff and that’s something I’d like to protect at all costs. And if it’s any consolation, Duff is stanning Lover anyway.

Taylor Swift doesn't often share the details of her romantic life with the media, but her songs have indicated she is happily in love. Her new album Lover seems to be primarily about her boyfriend, so are Swift and Joe Alwyn engaged? In "Paper Rings" off her new album Lover, Swift makes her intention to marry him one day very clear. She sings how she would marry him (note the tense), so there's no reason to pop champagne and celebrate this couple on their impending nuptials yet. But since Swift's "Paper Rings" lyrics state that she wants to marry Alwyn eventually, she appears to be committed to the British actor for life. While "Lover" — another track believed to be about Alwyn — is a sweet romantic ballad, "Paper Rings" is so spunky and upbeat that you might miss all of the sappy lyrics. Considering the song "Lover" contains wedding vows, it's no surprise that Swift sees Alwyn in her future. But "Paper Rings" sneakily displays how this pop star sensation is dedicated to him no matter the circumstances. Because, although Swift is reportedly the highest-paid celebrity of 2019, she doesn't need a fancy engagement ring or wedding band to say "I do" to Alwyn. "I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings," Swift sings. "Uh-huh, that's right/Darling, you're the one I want."

Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn have kept their relationship pretty private by Hollywood standards, but the paparazzi caught a rare glimpse of them together Sunday morning. The two were photographed boarding Swift's private plane, following their secret stay at her beach house in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Swift dressed casually in a white t-shirt and light jeans and Alwyn wore black. Daily Mail has the photos here. This is the first time in months photographers have shot Swift and Alwyn together: The last time they were photographed was in May, when Swift was in Paris. They held hands on that date. The Rhode Island mansion they stayed in last week is the famous site of Swift's old Taymerica Fourth of July celebrations, the parties she stopped throwing because she became disillusioned with the U.S. and its political environment, she recently told The Guardian.

Taylor Swift has been dating boyfriend Joe Alwyn for nearly three years. During that time, there have been countless wrong rumors about the two getting married. Here are a few of those stories that Gossip Cop has debunked. In April, Star published an article claiming Swift and Katy Perry were racing each other to the altar. The tabloid alleged that Swift had been secretly engaged to Alwyn for months when Perry announced her engagement to Orlando Bloom. “As much as Taylor has stepped back from the Hollywood spotlight recently,” an unnamed tipster told the magazine, “she won’t be able to live with herself if her wedding is outdone by Katy.” The story then spiraled into some nonsense about Perry finding out Swift’s “wedding plans,” and going all out to one-up her. From there, the “source” said both Alwyn and Bloom objected to the two singers battling over the weddings. In reality, the insider was a total fraud. There’s no reason as to how this one source would know so many details about the private lives of four different individuals. Gossip Cop still ran the claims by our source in Swift’s camp, who laughed off the rumor.

‘Lover’s third single, ‘The Archer’
Coming from country music to pop, Swift went from pouring her soul out to having a more playful sound to mess around with. “I love hooks and bop and catchy melodies so much,” she says. But she still enjoys returning to her deeper roots, like her third single, “The Archer.”
“It was unexpected when people liked ‘The Archer’ seemingly sort of unanimously, I was like, What? This doesn’t happen to me. This almost feels like foreign and strange,” she said. As for when she chose to release it, “I really enjoy ‘You Need to Calm Down‘ and the brattiness of [the lyrics] ‘damn, it’s 7 a.m.,’ and then the next song being like, this is how I feel about myself in my lowest moments”
Track 8, ‘Paper Rings’
Anyone who’s listened to it can’t really argue with that track eight, “Paper Rings,” is one of the most fun on the entire album. This was, of course, very intentional, said Swift, adding that she and co-writer Jack Antonoff were “messing around, just wanting to make something really really fun.”
“I wanted to show the quirkiness of a relationship and how it’s like, wow, this really fell together in really interesting, funny, playful, cute pieces. And now it’s something we’re both really stoked happened exactly the way it did,” she finished.
