Greta Thunberg, Brazilian indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed have dominated the Nobel Peace Prize lists, the awards for which will be announced here on Friday.
Greta Thunberg has been received by world leaders, attending the UN Climate Action Summit a few weeks ago and has become a world reference in the fight against climate change.
If Greta Thunberg takes the prize, she would become the youngest winner in Nobel history, surpassing Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai, who won the Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of 17.
The nominees include other names linked to the fight for the environment such as Raoni Metuktire, an emblematic figure against deforestation in the Amazon and a reference for the Kayapo people. He was also a finalist for the European Parliament's 2019 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg's planned march in Canada's energy heartland of Alberta will face a counter-rally by a convoy of oil and gas workers on Friday.
The truck convoy organized by pro-oil group United We Roll left the city of Red Deer on Friday morning, bound for Edmonton where the organizers plan to protest against outside interference.
"I am asking everyone connected to the oil and gas industry to come out in unity to show Greta we do not need her yelling at us," United We Roll said on its Facebook page, adding that Alberta was proud of its "clean energy."
Swedish activist Thunberg, who has mobilized a global youth movement against climate change, faces a difficult audience in Alberta where the energy sector provides 150,000 direct jobs and contributes more than C$71 billion ($54.1 billion) annually to Canada's gross domestic product.

On Friday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," host Ellen DeGeneres asked the 16-year-old Greta Thunberg if she'd ever think about sitting down with Trump to "try to help him understand climate change."
The Swedish teenager dismissed the idea.
"I don't understand why I would do that," Thunberg said. "I don't see what I could tell him that he hasn't already heard, and I just think it would be a waste of time, really."
Trump, who has called climate change a Chinese hoax, plans to pull the US out of the Paris climate agreement. His administration has also catalyzed rollbacks on a variety of environmental policies, including the US Endangered Species Act and the Environmental Protection Agency's clean-water regulations.
