Camila Cabello's sophomore studio album Romance has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, earning more than 600,000 equivalent album units.
Romance was released Dec. 6 via SYCO/Epic Records and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 (chart dated Dec. 21). Per RIAA standards, a gold album has to earn more than 500,000 in equivalent album units; one equivalent album unit is equal to one album sale, 10 tracks sold from an album, or 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from an album.
Overall, Cabello's second project has garnered more than 770 million streams and over 315 million video views. Its lead single, "Señorita," featuring Shawn Mendes, soared to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this summer (chart dated Aug. 31) and earned the songstress her second Hot 100 No. 1, following her solo breakthrough smash "Havana."
Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes know what you did last summer, and the pair certainly know what Twenty One Pilots did three Grammy Awards ago -- and they want to repeat that iconic moment.
Cabello spoke with Radio.com on Wednesday (Jan. 22) about what kind of epic acceptance move the duo would make if they win the award for best pop duo/group performance for their No. 1 Hot 100 hit "Señorita." "If Shawn and I win the Grammy, we will walk onstage in our underwear like Twenty One Pilots did. That's a promise," she initially vowed. "Just kidding. It's not. I gotta work out before I do that."
Back in 2017, the pop-punk duo of Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph walked onstage to accept the very Grammy that Cabello and Mendes are up for, except they won for their No. 2 Hot 100 smash "Stressed Out."
Earlier in the interview, Cabello talked about how "special" it feels to be nominated with her boyfriend in the first place. "It feels really special to get to share that kind of experience with someone that is first and foremost my friend that I've known for such a long time," she said. "He was actually the first person, I think, that I wrote a song with, which was when we did our collaboration 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' And just kind of like flashing back to then, when we were just two kids in a dressing room... like writing a song really quickly and just being so excited about that to being excited about this song. And we've grown up so much, and getting to experience something so prestigious with him is really cool."
Camila Cabello attended the 2020 Grammy Awards after-party in style.
The 22-year-old singer hit up a Los Angeles soirée in a black Versace dress. In fact, the ensemble was a mini dress version of the look she wore on the red carpet earlier in the evening. She accessorized her look with a diamond choker necklace and strappy black heels. Shawn Mendes was also there and donned a pink shirt, a black tie and dark pants.
While Cabello and Mendes didn't walk the red carpet together at the 62nd annual award show, they did pack on the PDA during the after-party. The two rocked out to songs like One Direction's "Steal My Girl" and The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" while laughing and holding each other close. They were also spotted leaving the party hand in hand.
Cabello and Mendes, who first sparked romance rumors over the summer, were nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their hit "Señorita." However, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus ended up taking home the trophy for "Old Town Road."
Camila Cabello's long, beachy curls and piece-y curtain bangs have become her signature look since perming her naturally-straight hair. But for 2020, the "Havana" singer-songwriter appears to be switching it up with a chic new blunt bob.
Of course, we can't confirm that the new 'do — seen in Cabello's latest IG selfie — is a permanent cut, especially since we know she loves sporting wigs in her music videos. But what we can say is that if it is real, the cheekbone-grazing bob (accented with a pearl barrette) could be her new trademark look.
After a brief hiatus from social media, the Cuban-American musician gave her fans a life
Love is in the air for Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes!
On Friday, the couple celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together as a couple. The pair were photographed exiting The Fat Duck restaurant, owned by celebrity chef Harry Blumenthal, in Bray, Berkshire, United Kingdom.
For their date, Mendes, 21, wore an all-black ensemble, while Cabello, 22, opted for a black coat and blue dress.
The duo was first romantically linked after they dropped their steamy hit single “Señorita” in June. Following the song’s release, they were spotted together multiple times over the summer holding hands and kissing in public.
And in October, Mendes had confirmed that the two had officially started dating on the Fourth of July.
