By all indications, Tool's new album Fear Inoculum will be the #1 album in the country next week, unseating the reigning queen of pop, Taylor Swift in her second week of release.
Taylor has nothing to be upset about as she had already surpassed going platinum in the album's second week of release. However, because of the news of her unseating in the charts, it led to some humorous tweets from her fans, Swifties, just now learning who Tool are.
The news spread and memes were born. And some of them have reached Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan himself. Maynard shared this meme on his social media, where he is photoshopped in the role of Thanos in the recent Avengers saga "snapping" Taylor away from the charts.

The unwitting objectivity of the Billboard music charts sometimes allows for strange bedfellows. Through no fault of their own, the West Coast thinking person's metal band Tool is currently competing for top-chart position with Taylor Swift, a singer with such a plausible innocuousness that she slips through one transformation and controversy after another mostly unfazed. With a consistent sales prowess rivaled only by Drake, she shares a large portion of a small spotlight cast as one of the most consequential artists of her generation. Swift released "Lover" on Aug. 23. It currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard top album chart. Tool released "Fear Inoculum" exactly one week later, on Aug. 30. As we enter September, the vying of these seemingly opposing artists for world dominance has caught the attention of the metal press, the pop press — and thanks in large part to Taylor Swift’s rabid fanbase — a lot of us in between. For those hoping that the rockist/poptimist arguments of the last 50 years would go away, they have come roaring back to life. TOOL - Pneuma (Audio)

Tool’s first album in 13 years, Fear Inoculum, has claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The highly anticipated record dethroned Taylor Swift’s Lover from its peak, selling 270,000 copies its first week, the great majority of which were pure album sales. You can always count on Tool fans to come through. They even bought so many limited edition CD sets that Tool were forced to print more of them, including the deluxe edition’s LED screens and speakers. Ever since the announcement of Fear Inoculum, Tool have been breaking chart records. Tool became the first band to fill the entire Rock Digital Songs Top 10 chart, they had all five albums break the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 (and the iTunes Top 10) simultaneously, and the Fear Inoculum title track became the longest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100. Fear Inoculum is the third consecutive Tool album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200, while Aenima just missed the mark, peaking at No. 2 after its release in 1996. Every Tool album has gone Platinum in the United States, so only time will tell if Fear Inoculum will join those distinguished records.

Tool’s dominance on the Billboard charts has continued following the monumental release of Fear Inoculum. The band’s first album in 13 years has now completely filled the Hot Rock Songs chart, with all 10 tracks, including interludes, securing a position. This is absolutely absurd. The unrivaled might of Tool continues to make history, as Fear Inoculum debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart while every Tool album broke the Top 20 simultaneously. They also filled the entire Top 10 of the Rock Digital Songs chart and secured the longest song in history, “Fear Inoculum,” to break into the Hot 100. Tool also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart. Each accolade is extremely impressive, but when noise interludes are outperforming highly successful singles, you know you’ve got a once-in-a-generation phenomenon. “Litanie Contre La Peur” is currently at No. 10 and “Legion Inoculant” sits at No. 11 on the Hot Rock Songs chart, beating “The Hype” by twenty one pilots and even Ed Sheeran’s “Blow.” Even “Mockingbeat,” which is essentially just nature sounds, is higher on the chart than Volbeat’s “Last Day Under the Sun” and Weekend’s “This Life.”

Fans who watched US band Tool in New Zealand last week have been warned they may have been exposed to coronavirus. A man in his 30s, who attended the gig in Auckland's Spark Arena, has been confirmed as the nation's fourth case of the virus. "He was in the general admission standing area in the front left-hand quadrant," said health officials. They added the risk of catching the virus was "low" but advised audience members to be aware of the symptoms. The man, who had recently arrived back in the country from northern Italy, has been isolated at home since Wednesday. His partner was announced as New Zealand's second case earlier this week. At present, it is not known how Covid-19 spreads from person to person, but similar viruses do so via droplets, such as those produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The current NHS advice is to avoid "close contact" with anyone who has the virus.
