Many things get better with age: wine, cheese, and Céline Dion, superstar royalty who our hearts go on and on for. The ballad singer agrees, but maybe don’t call her a queen. “I’m just strong, fierce, totally in control,” the 51-year-old chanteuse explained in an interview with ET Canada.
Celine Dion is back and better than ever with her new album Courage and its accompanying world tour, and while chatting with ET Canada’s Cheryl Hickey in a Canadian exclusive interview, the music icon shares why she feels like “queen” isn’t necessarily the best way to describe her.
“I’m a bossy queen. It’s not that I refuse… if they wanna call me queen, go ahead. But whatever comes with it better be big and bold,” she explains. “I don’t play boss, it doesn’t fit either. I’m just… I feel strong, fierce, totally in control.”
Although she may be in control of her destiny, it definitely comes new challenges, and Dion shares why she finally has the courage to take hold of her career at age 51.
“I’m 51 years old, because I’m a mother, because René [Angélil] has given me so much strength through the years, because when he left to his other life I became a solo mom. I became in charge of my dreams, of my team, of showing just to myself that I can do this and I really want to,” she reveals. “When you grow older, it’s not only a number that goes up, it’s not only your skin that goes down. What comes with that is maturity, knowledge, you feel more security about yourself.”
For fans who can’t wait for the album’s release in November, they can catch the kick-start of her “Courage World Tour” beginning in Quebec City later this month.
“I wanna give them as many songs as they wanna hear,” she teases. “I wanna give them some new songs as well to show them that this is the new approach.”

Canadian singer Celine Dion could perform in Bucharest next year. A request for one of her concerts to take place at the National Arena was filed with the Investments Department of the Bucharest City Hall, mayor Gabriela Firea announced, Mediafax reported. “The sport competitions are the priority but under no circumstance do we want to endanger other requests that are worth looking into, such as holding large concerts here. We have now a request, filed with the Investments Department of the City Hall, from the managers of an international artist that I am sure many Romanians would like to see in Bucharest, namely Celine Dion,” Firea said. According to the mayor, Dion could perform in the capital next summer. “For sure we will discuss with the Romanian Football Federation, with the representatives of the teams that usually rent the Arena and we will establish together a calendar. From what we have checked so far, it wouldn’t endanger the schedule of the competitions,” she explained.

The video, filmed in black and white, features the singer wearing a wide range of outfits interspersed with moments of her sitting at a makeup table, where she takes a cloth and removes the cosmetics on her face. In the final frame of the video, Dion appears completely without makeup. “I got my own imperfections/I got my own set of scars to hide/I got my own imperfections/I can't hold your heart when I'm fixing mine,” she sings in the chorus. “Imperfections” appears on Dion’s new album, “Courage,” due out Nov. 15. Dion's appearance — particularly her weight — has been the subject of some scrutiny over the last year, but she has said that she is healthy. “It’s true that I’m a little thinner. Everything’s fine, nothing’s wrong,” she told ABC News in April. The "Imperfections" video also falls in line with a new attitude Dion has. The "My Heart Will Go On" singer, who lost husband René Angéli to cancer in 2016, took part in a photo shoot for the September issue of CR Fashion Book and showed off a daring look in Paris in June. “I mean, five years ago I would never let (a photographer) near up past my kneecap, you know? Who would go under my tutu? Nobody. I mean, nobody. My husband, that was it. But I was just like, 'Alright, here we go!'” she said.

Céline Dion has hit another bump in the road on her “Courage” world tour — after having to reschedule shows due to a throat infection earlier this week. “He was electrocuted on Tuesday at the Bell Centre while climbing in the rigging 50 feet above her stage,” a tipster told us. “He was thrown off the rigging, dislocating his shoulder, but was caught by a safety harness and survived.” A source close to Dion told us, “A local guy working on the crew was electrocuted. It was a little shock. He’s out of the hospital and doing OK. It’s ironic that it happened the same week she got sick.”
