#ICA19: Women's Free Program Rika Kihira has showed she is going to be one of the women to beat this season with victory at the Autumn Classic International. Despite carrying a slight ankle injury which prevented her from attempting a quad Salchow, last year's Grand Prix Final winner nailed two triple Axels in a spectacular free skate. The 17-year-old received a standing ovation after her performance which earned her 145.98 for a winning total of 224.16 as she added to her triumph in Thursday's short program. Evgenia Medvedeva says she knows she "can do better" after her second place to Rika Kihira at the Autumn Classic International. The double world champion champion and PyeongChang 2018 silver medallist told reporters, "That was my main goal for this competition, to do pretty solid performances because it was important for me to start the season because the last season was really 'shaken' and now I feel like I'm in shape. "I can feel that I can do better and I'm pretty satisfied with the scores because it's the same as I skated today. I know the places where I can improve and do better so I will continue to work." There's no rest for the Russian who added, "Tomorrow I will have a practice and after tomorrow finally I will have a day off and then a work week, as usual, and preparing for the next one." Yuzuru Hanyu has made a victorious start to the 2019-20 season with victory in Autumn Classic International. The double Olympic figure skating champion just about hung on to his opening quad loop before stepping out of a quad Salchow. But he was close to flawless after that with the crowd roaring their approval to his skate to 'Origin', his tribute to Turin 2006 Olympic singles champion Evgeny Plushenko. A couple of Pooh bears flew onto the ice after a free skate filled with superb combinations, steps and musical interpretation. Accompanied by Ghislain Briand and Brian Orser in the 'kiss and cry', Hanyu was happy and relaxed as he waited for his score to be announced. He looked fairly unimpressed with the score of 180.67, but it was more than enough for first place and a winning total of 279.05.

Sportsmanship from Keegan Messing at the Autumn Classic.
During the medal ceremony, the Canadian unfurled the Japanese flag for winner Yuzuru Hanyu to face throughout his national anthem.
Keegan Messing recovered from a fall on his opening quad Lutz to score 166.45 for his skate to Guns N' Rose's 'November Rain'.
His total of 256.02 saw him take the last place on the podium ahead of Junhwan Cha.
The Canadian then showed great sportsmanship during the victory ceremony as he held the Japanese flag aloft so Hanyu could face it while the national anthem was played.

Yuzuru Hanyu made a winning start to his 2019-20 campaign at the Autumn Classic International. But the double Olympic figure skating champion has one goal for the season and the rest of his career. Speaking after his success in Oakville, Ontario, the Japanese said, "I've always wanted to land the quad Axel. "I live for the quad Axel and that's why I'm here skating." The 24-year-old admits there are challenges to overcome if he is to achieve that objective in the near future. He told Olympic Channel, "I want to do the quad Axel this season but I don’t know if I have enough time to practise in training. "I will find try to find the time and the space for training it and hopefully I will be able to land it. I wish to add the quad Axel in the free or short program this season."
