The English teen-pop quintet will begin the U.S. leg of its On the Road Again tour next year with a July 9 show at Qualcomm Stadium, home to the San Diego Chargers football team. The San Diego show will be the first of 17 U.S. stadium stops on the tour, which will follow the November release of the vocal quintet's new album, "Four." Six tour stops in Europe will precede the U.S. leg. (All U.S. dates are listed below.)
“We could not be more excited about the new tour," One Direction member Nial Horan said in a statement released Thursday morning. "We’ve started rehearsing songs from the new album and can’t wait for the fans to hear them live. We’re just so very thankful to our amazingly loyal fans - they make it possible for us to play in these incredible places and continue to surprise us every day with their unwavering support."
One Direction has previously performed in San Diego at SDSU's Viejas Arena and at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. This will be the group's first stadium show here. Last year, each of One Direction's five members earned about $10 million, according to recent press reports in England. One Direction member Harry Styles has gained additional notoriety as the former boyfriend of Taylor Swift, who has written some of her most withering songs about him.
