The five-time American Music Awards winner is the best-selling female country artist of all time. Her performance on Sunday night marked the first time she has graced the stage at the American Music Awards since 2003.
Twain was part of an all-star roster of performers from across all genres, including Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish, Camilla Cabello, Dua Lipa and Lizzo. Taylor Swift performed a career-spanning medley of her hits, and received the Artist of the Decade award.
Other performers included Thomas Rhett, who teamed with Wells Fargo to raise awareness for their Holiday Food Bank, with donations going toward Feeding America.

Camila Cabello took to social media on Monday (Nov. 25) to send a sweet shoutout to Taylor Swift following her artist of the decade performance at the 2019 American Music Awards. http://instagram.com/p/B5Tbw8tJjqn "'Artist of the Decade' what a perfect way to describe the incredible impact you have had on music and the world!! your songs and albums are the soundtrack to so many moments across my life and you have always been my biggest inspiration on my own journey in music as a writer and artist!!! congratulations @taylorswift and thank you again for letting me celebrate you alongside the magical @halsey," the pop star captioned a clip on Instagram of herself and Halsey performing "Shake It Off" with Swift at the awards show. Of course, the AMAs stage wasn't the first time Cabello had belted out the No. 1 hit alongside her superstar pal. She also joined Swift onstage to perform the track every night on the Reputation Stadium Tour with fellow opening act Charli XCX taking over the part sung by Halsey at the AMAs.

Carrie Underwood fans were furious after the “Drinking Alone” singer didn’t take home the biggest award of the night at the 2019 CMAs. (For what it’s worth, winner Garth Brooks was just as surprised.) But at the 2019 American Music Awards, she finally got the credit she deserves.
Carrie received the trophies for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album in the country categories. When she took the stage to give her acceptance speech, she thanked all the people you may expect like husband Mike Fisher and their two sons, Isaiah and Jacob.
But then she gave another emotional, yet interesting, shout-out:
“I want to thank the AMAs for making this award show fan-voted, because they’re the ones that matter, they’re the ones that count, they’re the ones that allow us to do what we get to do. Thank you fans, thank you AMAs. God bless you guys.” Some followers couldn’t help but notice that it sounded like she was throwing a little “shade” toward the CMAs, which are decided on by industry professionals like artists, managers, journalists, songwriters, and others in the business.
