In fact, if I were not a regular reader of Wonkette, which still cares enough to cover Sarah Palin as a politician, I never would have known about Palin’s announcement, which came during a Friday appearance on Fox News’ On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, an appearance that was actually covered on this here Mediaite website right here. The headline from that appearance, though, was about Palin’s high opinion of Ashton Kutcher, who has somehow made work “cool again,” because the millions of unemployed are obviously just hipsters who don’t want to do something as played out as feeding their kids. Right after that bit of incisive social commentary, though, Greta asked Palin about all the “chatter” she’s heard from Sarah Palin about a Sarah Palin senate bid, and the former Governor Resignate said something about how Mark Begich is referred to as “Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch” in Sarah Palin’s head, and that there are “thousands of Alaskans” who could do the job, and “it doesn’t have to be me. And as of this date, I am not planning to run for the U.S. Senate. It’s true that she immediately followed that up with “but I certainly would never say never in this case,” but in the olden days, such a declaration would have been good for a Drudge link, a week’s worth of Special Comments from Keith Olbermann, and a chorus of wailing from Palin supporters that would explode your head like that guy in Scanners. Palin also took a shot at Begich for using “my name as his fundraising tool,” claiming that “he’s kinds of in a panic there, being threatened, I guess.” She didn’t say whether Begich felt more threatened by the 55% of Alaskans who feel negatively about Palin, or his own 18-point lead in the latest poll, and now, it seems we’ll never know. www.mediaite.com/tv/what-if-sarah-palin-didnt-run-for-senate-and-nobody-cared/

Sarah Palin jumped into the political fray over Syrian military intervention with a blistering Facebook post opposing any military action. Palin argues that while Americans are sympathetic to the plight of those suffering under Bashar al-Assad, there’s too much uncertainty about what the outcome could be and many of the rebels are al Qaeda-affiliated, so as far as she’s concerned, “let Allah sort it out.” She questions the logic of getting involved in Syria now, only after chemical weapons were used, when thousands and thousands of Syrians were being killed well before Assad crossed the red line. She accuses the president of only considering military strikes to save “political face” over his red line threat, concluding that we are still “dangerously uncertain of the outcome” and the U.S. needs to stay out of it.

Sarah Palin is being sued after her political action committee (or PAC) posted an iconic September 11th photo on her Facebook page and website without asking permission from the copyright owner. The famous photo was taken by photographer Thomas E. Franklin shortly after the attacks, and shows NYC Firefighters George Johnson, Dan McWilliams and Billy Eisengrein raising the American flag at Ground Zero. The original Complaint was very vague as to the notice given to Palin and SarahPAC about alleged infringement and there was no evidence the photo was used directly for fundraising, although there was that allegation in the Complaint. NJMG is not letting go of the case, as it filed an Amended Complaint yesterday in federal court beefing up it’s allegations (1) that Palin and SarahPAC had sufficient contacts with New York State so as to be subject to personal jurisdiction in the Southern District of New York, (2) that notice was given prior to suit, and (3) alleged fundraising. The Demand letter still is not attached to the Amended Complaint. Here’s the allegation as to notice prior to filing suit: 13. On or about September 12, 2013, NJMG, through its counsel, gave electronic notice of the infringement to SarahPAC and Sarah Palin through the “Contact Us” tool on www.sarahpac.com. On or about September 12, 2013, NJMG, through its counsel, sent a letter, by priority overnight mail, to SarahPAC and Sarah Palin informing them of the infringement. 14. Defendants did not remove the WTC Flag Raising Photograph from their web pages until after NJMG filed this action on September 13, 2013.

Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz lead shutdown protest at war memorial: Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz and other conservative Republicans led a protest on Sunday which tore down barriers at a second world war memorial in Washington and confronted police outside the White House. Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, accused President Barack Obama of using war veterans as pawns in the two-week-old federal government shutdown. "We are here to honour our vets," she told a crowd at the national mall, which has been fenced off since 1 October. "You look around though and you see these barricades and you have to ask yourself is this any way that a commander in chief would show his respect, his gratitude to our military. This is a matter of shutdown priorities." Sarah Palin and Senator Ted Cruz recite the Pledge of Allegiance at a rally in Washington DC. The memorial has become a symbol of the bitter fight between Democrats and Republicans over who is at fault since the shutdown began. On Sunday morning, a protest by truckers converged with a veterans march at the World War II Memorial. Participants cut the links between metal barriers at the National Park Service property and pushed them aside.
