The 24-year-old recently opened up on what made her want to take on the role of Rosemary in the new film adaptation of Lois Lowry’s young adult novel, and how she prepared for her role. “I read scripts all the time, and I have only been in very tiny parts in one of two movies because I was always waiting for the right thing to come along to fully commit.” Taylor explained. “When I read The Giver- first of all, I remembered reading the book, and I remember it deeply affected me in school,” She continued. “But picturing the characters played by Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep, and these incredible actors who had already signed on to the project, it was absolutely an honor to be approached to play Rosemary.’” After signing on to the role, Taylor began preparing for her new character by getting into Rosemary’s mind frame. “In order to prepare for the role of Rosemary, I figured out what memory I had in my own life that would make me want to make the choice that she made,” Taylor said. “And it’s a memory that always bring me to a place where I can’t really talk about it without crying. I knew with Rosemary, if she was going to make the choice she made in the end, which is a really tragic choice to make, that I was probably going to be crying in a scene, and so I got a memory and figure out what I would have to expose myself to, emotionally, in order to get to that place.”

Who doesn't love Taylor Swift? Just ask the six-year-old cancer patient she visited yesterday at Boston's Children's Hospital. Or spend some time with her castmates in The Giver. Even though the singer's part in the film isn't very big, she did manage to win over cast and crew during the short time she was on set. "She's so wonderful," Katie Holmes says. "She's so nice, so talented and so unbelievably talented." During downtime on the South African set, Swift made some music with costars Jeff Bridges and Brenton Thwaites. "We all jammed," Thwaites said. "We were all quite musical and we opened up through music. It was nice." Thwaites, by the way, is able to find the funny in the false rumors that he and Swift became more than just friends while making the movie. "She's like a brother to me," the hottie Australian cracked. Jeff Bridges says he'd love for Taylor to join him on stage when he's on the road with his band, The Abiders. "We're going out in a couple of weeks, hitting the East Coast," he said. "I don't know what she's got going on but it would be great to see her again." Odeya Rush, Thwaites' young romantic interest in the movie, chimed in, "I'm not dating Taylor. I'm sorry! Me and Taylor are like sisters." Perhaps Swift will be a surprise performer at the movie's New York premiere on Aug. 11. One Republic is already set to perform their song from the film "Ordinary Human" at the event, which will be broadcast live in select movie theaters throughout the U.S.

For fans wondering what Taylor Swift will be up to in the upcoming "The Giver" film adaptation, they won't have to wait much longer to find out. The singer is featured in a new preview for the flick, out later this month. Swift appears in an exclusive first look, featured on Yahoo, as a hologram, sitting at the piano. Wearing a brunette wig, Swift plays Rosemary, the previous Receiver of Memories. That honor is bestowed upon an individual by The Giver, played by Jeff Bridges. Like many pop stars before her, Taylor Swift has been making a concerted effort to cross over into acting, beginning with appearances on TV’s CSI in 2009, and continuing with the 2010 romantic comedy Valentine’s Day. Her latest turn is a small but pivotal role in The Giver — the much-anticipated adaptation of Lowis Lowry’s 1993 young-adult novel — and we’ve got an exclusive first look above. Bridges and Swift didn't just play music together while the cameras were rolling. Earlier this week he stopped by "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" to open up about playing with Swift in between takes. Bridges shared, “She's something. Most of our scenes are on the piano. Between setups we broke out the gits [guitars]… We just jammed, it was wonderful. No, we just jammed. She's so sweet.”
