Canada will soon stop providing security for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the federal government has confirmed. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have been providing assistance to the couple since their arrival in Canada "intermittently since November 2019". It had not been clear whether Canadians would be paying for their security following their move. The couple will formally step down as senior royals from 31 March. They will no longer carry out duties on behalf of the Queen but arrangements will be reviewed after 12 months.

One of the major questions following Meghan and Harry's announcement that they wanted to step back from their "senior" roles in the royal family revolved around their titles. Would they remain his and her royal highness? What about Duke and Duchess of Sussex? http://instagram.com/p/B9CbHDTpMYf Here's what we know about what their future plans mean for their royal titles: While they will retain their His and Her Royal Highness titles, they will no longer actively use them. In mid-January, Buckingham Palace issued a statement clarifying that beginning this spring, Harry and Meghan will step back from official royal duties and no longer use the titles His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. They will continue to use the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Read the statement in full here: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are grateful to Her Majesty and the Royal Family for their ongoing support as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties. With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty. The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home. Buckingham Palace does not comment on the details of security arrangements. There are well established independent processes to determine the need for publicly-funded security. This new model will take effect in the Spring of 2020.

Meghan Markle's estranged half-brother said that "being associated" with the duchess "nearly destroyed" him. In an interview with New Idea published Monday, Thomas Markle Jr., 53, blamed his sister for his inability to find a job. The Australian magazine described him as saying he had lost jobs and now "can't get a new one because of the notoriety of being related to the duchess." He told New Idea that he was considering changing his surname to escape the Markle "curse." "I am homeless and could have been under a bridge with a cardboard sign begging for money, but thankfully my mum has taken me in," he said. He added that "Meghan could have helped me or got someone else at the palace to do so."

THE Queen and Prince Harry had a four-hour heart-to-heart talk at Windsor Castle on Sunday about his future. She told him over lunch that he and Meghan will be welcomed back if they ever decide to rejoin the royals. The Queen agreed to meet Harry for the extraordinary fireside chat to clear the air about his and Meghan’s imminent royal departure after a request from the Duke. Harry's 93-year-old grandmother is believed to have ended the talk by saying: “You are much loved and will always be welcomed back.” Harry, 35, had discretely strolled from his Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor Home Park to the castle, where he and the Queen shared a light lunch and tea as they discussed his future. A royal source said: “The Queen had a lot to talk to Harry about and this was the ideal time for them to both say their piece. “When Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to quit it all happened very quickly and it was very stressful for all concerned. “Sunday was the first time the Queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are. It was a much more relaxed environment and they were both able to speak their mind.”

Don't expect any public appearances from baby Archie this time around! According to a report from The Sunday Times, the adorable 9-month-old will once again remain in Canada when mom Meghan Markle joins Prince Harry in London for a final round of engagements before they officially step down as senior royals on March 31.
The outlet claims the news of Archie's absence has been quite disappointing for Queen Elizabeth and the rest of family who are said to be "very sad" to have seen so little of the tot in recent months. The couple is set to attend several events in the U.K., including the annual Commonwealth Day Service with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
