An international pop singer and a candidate for president seem like an unlikely pairing. Still, fans can’t get enough of this duo after they posed for a picture together back in November 2019? Are Bernie Sanders and Ariana Grande friends? Has Ariana Grande endorsed this democratic candidate? Here’s what we know about these two public figures.
Somehow, in between democratic debates and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, Bernie Sanders paid a visit to the concert of one Grammy-award winning pop-star. During November 2019, Ariana Grande hosted live performances across the United States. Bernie Sanders met up with the singer at her Atlanta concert, later tweeting about the show.
“I want to thank [Ariana Grande] for not only being a wonderful entertainer but also for being such an outstanding advocate for social justice. We must all be prepared – like Ariana has shown – to fight for everyone who is struggling. It was great to meet her in Atlanta last night,” Senator Sanders tweeted.
Ariana Grande tweeted her love for Bernie Sanders
On the same night, Ariana Grande shared a message with her fans about this United States senator. She posted two pictures of herself with the democratic candidate, along with a caption celebrating the public figure.
“MY GUY. Thank you, Senator Sanders, for coming to my show, making my whole night, and for all that you stand for! Headcount.org and I are doing our best to make you proud. We’ve already registered 20k+ young voters at my shows alone. Also, I will never smile this hard again promise,” Ariana Grande tweeted.
As a result, some fans took to social media, sharing their love for both public figures and getting Ariana Grande’s tweet to over 200,000 likes. One Twitter user wrote, “Can I just say, not only is Bernie rockin’ this primary with his policies but he’s living his best life!”
“WOW!! This is AMAZING. [Bernie Sanders] is our guy! Thank you, Ariana, for your support and [for] using your influence to get the youth vote to the polls. 2020 is a crucial election for the future of humanity [and] the planet,” another Twitter user wrote.
After that adorable Twitter post, it’s pretty safe to save to say that Bernie Sanders is Ariana Grande’s current preferred democratic candidate. According to Rolling Stone, the popstar official endorsed Senator Sanders during November 2019.
The “Thank U, Next” singer also teamed up with Headcount.org, a non-partisan organization that registers people to vote at public events. Some volunteers worked at Ariana Grande’s concerts, registering thousands of young voters.
However, Ariana Grande is not the first artist to share her love and support for Bernie Sanders. According to The Washington Post, during July 2019, “Sanders teamed up with rapper Cardi B to create a viral campaign video aimed at getting young people more involved in politics.”
Music by Ariana Grande, including the album Thank U, Next, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
