Olympic medalist and coach Alexander Zhulin shared his opinion on the past test skates of the Russian national team .
According to Zhulin, he was impressed by the performances of Mikhail Kolyada, Andrey Mozalev and Alexandra Trusova, while Evgenia Medvedeva's performance was disappointing.
Two-time Olympic medalist, now figure skating coach Alexander Zhulin commented on the results of the test skates of the Russian national team skaters, which took place last weekend.
“It was a pity to look at Medvedeva in a free program, although I really liked the choreography. She has perhaps the most interesting program. But the physical form leaves much to be desired. My wife needs to jump difficult jumps, and the program is also heaped up. I wish her only well, but it will be hard to physically skate. Unfortunately, the girls are not getting younger. It seems to me that the future - it Trusov, Kamil Valiev and Anna Shcherbakova,"- "Chempionat.com" quoted Zhulin.
Earlier it was reported that a back injury prevented Medvedeva from performing the short program cleanly.

MOSCOW, September 13 - RIA Novosti, Anatoly Samokhvalov. Evgenia Medvedeva, two-time world champion in women's single skating, called her health as normal, noting that everything possible is being done for this. Test skates of the Russian national figure skating team took place on September 12-13 in Moscow. Medvedeva made mistakes in the performance of the free program. “Everything is fine, let's not talk about it,” Medvedeva told reporters, answering a question about her health. “Everything possible is being done so that health conditions do not interfere with the working process. "Usually I was very worried after bad starts. Now I don’t worry, I know that I will take a break, come to my senses and everything will be much better. Over time, I realized that bad starts at the Open Skates do not mean bad starts at competitions," she added. Medvedeva noted that it is important for her now to rest before the next start. "It is important for me that tomorrow is a day off. If not, then there will be no day off before (the Russian Cup stage in) Syzran. I need to rest, I have entered such a phase of age that I need not work more, but more rest," she concluded.

Two-time world figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva will be hospitalized to undergo a medical check, after the recurrence of the troublesome spine injury that forced her to withdraw from the upcoming Cup of Russia. According to the general director of the Russian figure skating federation Alexander Kogan, the skater already consulted with doctors, who confirmed an aggravation of the old injury. The 20-year-old, who withdrew from the season-opening Cup of Russia stage in Syzran, will be missing her second competition in a row. Her participation in the ISU Grand Prix event in Moscow remains in doubt. In September, Olympic silver medalist Medvedeva returned to her long-time coach Eteri Tutberidze who had led her to two world titles and two Olympic medals. The skater has parted ways with Canadian specialist Brian Orser, who trained her for two seasons, and expressed gratitude to his team for the work that had been done. Her cooperation with Orser was not that productive compared with Medvedeva’s previous results, as the world championship bronze was the only international award taken under his guidance. Tutberidze, who warmly welcomed back her skater, said she will try to restore Medvedeva to her previously held leading positions, however the skater’s health problems have made serious amendments to her training schedule, and are threatening to undermine the entire season for the prominent athlete.

Fans of Russian skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva can breathe a sigh of relief after it was confirmed that the athlete’s recently sustained spine injury will not require surgical intervention, despite a pessimistic prognosis. The 20-year-old, who was hospitalized last week for a medical examination, will reportedly resume training on Thursday to continue her preparation for upcoming competitions. The two-time world champion felt acute pain in her spine when she was getting ready for a new season and the injury forced her to withdraw from two stages of the Cup of Russia and undergo medical treatment in hospital. http://instagram.com/p/CBxmIYrKmvJ “Medvedeva has problems with her spine, she suffers from a pinched spinal nerve. So far, no surgery is required. Doctors are trying to do everything in their power to fully restore her spine. She does physical exercises, swims and undergoes physiotherapy. Doctors do hope that all those measures will lead to Medvedeva’s full recovery,” TASS reports, citing sources familiar with the situation. The skater’s return to competition is still in doubt, as she hasn’t yet resumed the full-time training needed to be ready to perform at the highest level. http://instagram.com/p/B2Y9MWvo9ow Medvedeva, who came back to her long-time coach Eteri Tutberidze after a two-year break, is expected to take part in the Rostelecom Cup ISU Grand Prix stage in Moscow next month, but her participation will obviously depend on her health and readiness to compete for podium places.

Yevgenia Medvedeva, the Olympic silver medalist and two-time world champion, is out of this week’s Rostelecom Cup while reportedly recovering from injury.
Medvedeva’s name was no longer on the entry list as of Monday morning.
Russia’s figure skating federation president said Medvedeva has not fully recovered from an injury, according to news agency TASS. Medvedeva was reportedly sidelined from domestic competition earlier this fall with a back injury.
Rostelecom Cup, which airs on NBC Sports this week, will mark arguably the strongest women’s skating competition of 2020 given it includes the top four finishers from last season’s Russian Championships: Anna Shcherbakova, Alena Kostornaya, Alexandra Trusova and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva.
Kostornaya, Trusova and Shcherbakova ranked Nos. 1-3 in the world last season, their debut campaigns on the senior international circuit.
Medvedeva, the world’s top skater at this point in the last Olympic cycle, changed coaches from Toronto-based Brian Orser back to her former Russia-based coach Eteri Tutberidze in September.
Medvedeva, who turns 21 on Thursday, went undefeated for more than two years from 2015-2017 and has not won a top-level international competition since.
She took bronze at the last world championships in March 2019. At her most recent competition (not counting September’s Russian test skates), Medvedeva withdrew after a fifth-place short program at the December 2019 Russian Championships after boot problems.
