Lewis Capaldi held a boat party with his best mate Niall Horan after the BRIT Awards 2020... and it got pretty rowdy. Lewis Capaldi certainly partied in style after picking up two trophies at last night's BRIT Awards. The 23-year-old singer organised a secret boat party for straight after the BRITs and took his BFF Niall Horan along for the ride down the River Thames. Following the show, the boat whisked Lewis and his pals from The O2 before arriving in central London at around 1am, where cars were waiting to take the partygoers to another after party at a fancy hotel. Lewis recorded a video on the Instagram story of Capital's Will Manning whilst on the boat party that showed the Scot in good spirits after his first-ever BRIT Awards win. Turning the camera to Niall, Lewis introduced his friend as "the better version, the more talented version, of Harry Styles..." with Niall finishing his friend's sentence, joking: "Seven-time BRIT Award winner Niall Horan." Lewis won 'Best New Artist' and 'Song of the Year' (supported by Capital FM) for his hit single 'Someone You Loved', which he also performed on the night.

Lizzo and Harry Styles were more adorable than ever at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday evening. From the "Juice" singer kissing Styles' hand, to stealing — and downing — his glass of tequila, the pair shared many cute moments. In one video clip from the ceremony at London's 02 Arena, they held hands while the host Jack Whitehall poked fun at them.

When Dave performed a new, extended version of his song Black at this week’s Brits, he declared Boris Johnson “a real racist”, demanded justice for the Windrush generation and reparations for Britain’s history of slavery and colonialism, and indicted the media’s treatment of Meghan Markle. He lambasted the government’s failure to properly rehouse victims of the Grenfell tragedy – echoing Stormzy’s condemnation of Theresa May over the issue at last year’s ceremony. To the surprise of everyone who thought Lewis Capaldi would make a clean sweep of his four nominations, Dave pipped the Scot to the night’s top prize, best British album, for his complex debut Psychodrama. He used his speech to tell kids growing up in south London that they’re no different from him, legitimising their experiences and dreams. We are a long way from the #BritsSoWhite backlash of 2016, a hashtag coined in response to an entirely white cohort of British nominees – just as grime was reaching its commercial peak. The controversy forced the hand of the Brits: a year later, it diversified its voting body and appointed a specialist committee comprising leading BAME figures from music and media to advise on its new voting members and possible live performances. (This year’s voting committee comprised 24.4% BAME voters and 49% women.) While institutional change happened slowly, black artists – often asked to provide entertainment at events that failed to garland their work – got creative with how they used these spaces to make statements. At the 2015 Brits – where not a single black British artist won an award – Kanye West invited grime legends including Skepta, Stormzy and Krept & Konan decked in black hoodies to mosh with flamethrowers as he performed All Day. The performance racked up more than 150 complaints to Ofcom for West’s use of the N-word – and viewing figures rose by 1.2m after reaching a historic low the previous year.

If there's one thing we know about Billie Eilish's style, it's that she loves all things oversized. The pants, tops, and jackets she wears on the red carpet are far from form-fitting, and the extra-large ensembles have increasingly featured designer logos. The same can be said about the Grammy-winning singer's nails: She likes them oversized and covered in fashion-brand trademarks, and the latest version of her signature look took on a Burberry twist — in London, appropriately. At Tuesday night's BRIT Awards, where Eilish added another trophy to her case, the 18-year-old vocalist arrived wearing another loose, fabric-abundant outfit, this time from Burberry. Her tan, velour tracksuit had metal details that matched that of her modernized trench coat, which was also lined in the brand's instantly recognizable tartan plaid. That's not where the plaid ended, though. As Eilish has been wont to do, she extended the designer vibe all the way to her manicure. Her nails were covered in hand-painted take on Burberry's signature print: a tan base is crisscrossed in shades of white, black, and red, the lines parallel and perpendicular to the perfectly squared-off edges of the extra-long shape.

We kind of love this. At the very least, we’d place it fairly high on her list of personal bests – although it has to be said that the bar is pretty low, considering her dicey red carpet history. We’d rate this fairly fabulous lewk a win all around, but what the hell, let’s put it up to a vote anyway. There are, to be fair, a few things that might not be working perfectly here. Yes, it’s the Brit Awards, kittens! If we sound excited it’s not so much that we’re huge fans of the Brit Awards (or recognize even half of its attendees), but we’re just happy to have one more awards show red carpet to show you! The red carpet pickins have been slim of late, as we may have mentioned one or two times. We milked things by giving spotlight posts to a few of the attendees already, but these are the rest of the folks (that we felt like highlighting), so let’s get to judging them.
