British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is a father again. He and his fiancée, Carrie Symonds, announced Wednesday morning that she gave birth to a baby boy. Mother and baby are doing "very well," according to a spokesperson for the couple. Johnson and Symonds thanked the "fantastic NHS maternity team" for their work delivering the child at a London hospital. This is the second time this month Johnson has personally thanked England's National Health Service. The first was after he was treated in an intensive care unit for COVID-19. After a three-week absence, Johnson returned to work Monday and urged the nation to continue to adhere to the national lockdown, warning of the risk of another spike in coronavirus cases. "This is the moment when we can press home our advantage," said Johnson, referring to a declining number of COVID-19 cases in hospitals. "It is also the moment of maximum risk." The U.K. has confirmed more than 161,000 COVID-19 cases, with more than 21,000 deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Symonds, 32, also displayed symptoms of the respiratory disease during her pregnancy. Earlier this month, she announced that she was feeling better. Johnson, 55, is the father of at least six children, four with his second wife, Marina Wheeler, from whom he is divorced, and one with art consultant Helen Macintyre, with whom he had an affair. Asked during the election campaign last December by LBC radio how many children he had, the prime minister declined to answer, saying he didn't think the nation wanted to hear about it. "I love my children very much," Johnson said, "but they are not standing at this election."

BORIS Johnson has formally divorced his second wife - enabling him to marry fiancee Carrie Symonds. Ex-wife Marina Wheeler, 55, applied for a decree absolute in February to end the 27-year marriage. All that needed doing to complete the divorce was for her to fill in a form known as a D36. Ms Wheeler completed it and returned it to the court just before the coronavirus lockdown was imposed by the PM in March, according to a report in the Mirror last night. It means her split from Mr Johnson is now complete. It is believed they could each end up with £4million from the divorce settlement. It means Mr Johnson, the UK’s 77th PM, has become only the second in British history to be divorced while in office. Augustus FitzRoy, the 3rd Duke of Grafton, was the last to do so in 1769. He also remarried while at the helm — and went on to have nine children with his second wife.

NEW mum Carrie Symonds is preparing to go camping with Boris Johnson as the couple take a UK staycation. The PM will head to Scotland this weekend for a “paternity holiday”. Fiancee Carrie, 32, their three-month-old son Wilfred and dog Dilyn will be joining him in a remote location. Sources close to the family say they will be north of the border for six days, which will include a “couple of days of camping”. It comes as campsites around Britain are full thanks to a surge in late bookings from people opting to holiday in the UK due to coronavirus concerns. The PM is still set to work and make crucial calls on Covid-19. Officials are expected to deliver his red box each day. But a source said the Premier will take a slower pace, as “since recess began he has been working every day”. Last month Mr Johnson, 56, declared that he planned to stay in the UK for his summer break. He said: “I would encourage people still to think of wonderful staycations here. All my happiest holiday memories are of holiday vacations in the UK, bucket-and-spade jobs or whatever.”

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister revealed that Boris and Carrie were engaged in February, when it was also confirmed that the couple were expecting a baby this summer. In July, Boris sparked speculation that the couple had hoped to tie the knot in August, when he announced that from the 1st of the month, couples would be able to hold wedding receptions with up to 30 guests. In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Boris was asked whether he would be taking advantage of the rules, to which he cryptically replied, "Well, aha! That's a jolly good question." Fast forward to November and Boris and Carrie have missed the opportunity, as couples are no longer able to host a wedding celebration amid the UK's second national lockdown. According to government guidance, weddings and civil partnership ceremonies are not permitted unless one of those getting married is seriously ill and is not expected to recover. Of course, Boris and Carrie could opt to host a virtual ceremony, but it would make sense that they would hope to have some family and friends there. As for the three-month interim in which Boris and Carrie could have legally married, the couple were no doubt preoccupied with Boris' role as Prime Minister during a global pandemic, as well as parenting their newborn son Wilfred. Their nuptials will mark Boris' third marriage, following his divorce from Marina Wheeler earlier this year, and Boris and Carrie's wedding will make history with Boris becoming the first Prime Minister to marry in office since the Earl of Grafton in 1769.
