For those who haven’t bothered to follow Lovato’s career, let’s get something out of the way: the girl can sing. Get over your fear of being judged by your Facebook friends and Spotify her discography, because you’re going to have the last laugh five years down the road (probably sooner) when she wins a Grammy. At 22 years old, her vocal range is astounding—as One Republic frontman and prolific producer Ryan Tedder put it, she’s a “crazy talented” singer with “complete power and complete control” and has one of the widest ranges of any star he’s ever worked with. Coming from a man who has spent time in a studio with Beyonce, Adele, and Kelly Clarkson, that’s quite a statement. Those spectacular pipes were put on full display for nearly two hours this past weekend but not before four opening acts took the stage. MKTO, Christina Perri, and local rapper Becky G. hyped up the crowd pre-Demi, but it was motivational speaker Spencer West who held the audience’s attention. In an unconventional move, Lovato asked West, who lost his legs to a genetic disorder at the tender age of five, to share his story with her audiences. West was told by doctors that he’d never be a functioning member of society but has since proved them wrong (by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, for example). He and Lovato met in East Africa last year on a trip with the organization Free the Children, and early last month, he officially joined the tour. Lovato began her set close to 10 p.m. and performed a wide array of hits, some even from her Disney days. Speaking of Disney, her former flame and Camp Rock costar Joe Jonas showed up for a duet, although for all I know his mic was on mute because a cacophony of screams—the likes of which I haven’t heard since my Backstreet Boys days—drowned out his vocals. About an hour in, Lovato demonstrated her immense and unadulterated talent by performing ballads like ”Warrior” with only the accompaniment of an acoustic guitar or piano, because why use a full band as a safety net when you can hit a G5 without even blinking? It was during her time behind the piano that she also shared a few words about her past struggles with cocaine and alcohol abuse, an eating disorder, and bipolar disorder. “I’m entering a new chapter of my life where I’m not talking about the past anymore,” she said. “Your mental illness doesn’t define you. Just like mine doesn’t define me or my music.” Lovato’s roots may be in the House of Mouse, but if Saturday was any indication, she’s destined for far bigger things. Let’s just hope she goes the way of Justin Timberlake rather than Miley Cyrus.

Demi Lovato was showing off her cleavage as she rocked out on stage in Calgary, Canada on Sunday. The 22-year-old pop star's chest was pushed out of the top of her Dominatrix-style bustier. The Heart Attack hitmaker also swathed her curvaceous figure in an edgy jacket, a studded skirt, shiny skintight leggings, and black boots. She added a splashes of colour to the otherwise gothic look with her bright red lipstick and turquoise hair dye. Demi’s back-up dancers and singers coordinated with her in their similarly edgy ensembles. The singer put on an impassioned performance as she threw her body into her performance. She is currently embarked upon her Demi World Tour, and will next head to Saskatoon, Canada for a show on Tuesday. Demi’s tour kicked off September 6 in Baltimore, Maryland, taking her through various American cities in the month of September, from Miami to Seattle. While performing at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on September 27, Demi was joined on stage by her former flame, Joe Jonas.

As announced last month, Demi Lovato and Iggy Azalea hit the stage during the digital streaming service’s first-ever celebration of fans on October 8 at The Barker Hangar in Monica. And judging from the footage, the ladies pulled out all the stops for their performances in front of some of their biggest fans. First off is Queen Lovato, who lit up the stage with an electrifying performance of her latest Demi bop, “Really Don’t Care.” After making a fierce entrance (seriously, look at that pose!), the songstress strutted her stuff through the crowd onto the stage, delivering a performance full of powerhouse vocals and hair flips aplenty. Then came I-G-G-Y, who switched up her usual “Fancy” serving for her fierce ‘n feisty New Classic cut, “Fuck Love.” Backed by a troupe of dancers, the Aussie femcee tore into the track, flashing her middle finger and providing heaps of sass to the eager crowd.

With One Direction‘s ‘Four’ just a little than a month away, it kind of seems like everyone is a Directioner — well, everyone except Demi Lovato, that is. The ‘Really Don’t Care’ singer recently clarified comments she made about why she doesn’t want to collaborate with the boy band. “It’s not that big of a deal. People are making it out to be this huge thing,” Demi explained to Montreal Virgin Radio. (Check out her response in the video above). “I collaborate with people that really inspire me. When I want to collaborate with someone, I want to go after Kelly Clarkson. I want to collaborate one day with Eminem. I love Iggy Azalea. These are people that I really want to collaborate with and so I make it a point to collaborate to go after people that I really enjoy.” “I’m not a One Direction fan per say. They’re not bad, they’re great,” she continued. “But… they’re like a boy group.” But what about her ‘Somebody to You’ collab with the Vamps? “I did collaborate with the Vamps, but I loved the song,” she clarified. “It was kind of this thing that it’s like, ‘Well, it’s not the type of thing that I’d normally do, but I love the song.’ And they’re good guys.” Directioners + Lovatics, what do you think of Demi’s comments about 1D? Would you like to see a Demi Lovato/One Direction collaboration happen?

For popstar Demi Lovato, her world tour's stop at Hershey's Giant Center on Oct. 24 was a blast from the past. Seven years ago, Lovato performed her first ever concert at Hersheypark. "My audience was much smaller," Lovato told nearly two-thirds full Giant Center. She estimated that first concert's crowd was about 100. "This was before 'Camp Rock' and my parents were out there begging people to come and see me."
"But you know what? Some of you I know are here tonight," she said to a round of applause. "You guys are really the best fans in the world." The crowd was definitely loving everything that came out of Lovato's mouth, with almost every break being filled with screams of "We love you!" It was the perfect audience for Lovato, whose world tour has been all about conquering her own fears. That meant playing the piano and showing her arms, a body part she doesn't like. "This tour is about growing for me," Lovato said. "I want you guys to be inspired to grow from it as well."
"This is when the encore is going to happen," she told fans as she descended one of the stage's trap doors. "I'm going to change clothes, then I'm going to sing 'Neon Lights,' okay?" Earlier, when she messed up on a piano solo she just laughed. "I kept hitting the wrong notes, but I don't care," she said. "Sometimes you just have to say [expletive] it." That being said, there were five songs that really stood out.
1. "Trainwreck." Lovato brought her A-game to this track, but the best part was her interaction with the crowd. Lovato took multiple selfies and even face timed a friend. The crowd loved it.
2. "La La Land." This old school Lovato track (it's from 2008) was requested by one of the crowd members at the show. It was an instant hit and spawned a sing-a-long.
3. "Let it Go." Lovato may not be Idina Menzel, but she brought her own spin to the "Frozen" theme song. The crowd went wild as soon as the opening chords were struck and they stayed in a "Frozen" frenzy the entire time, singing every word.
4. "Two Pieces." Her voice may have been on the hoarse side, but Lovato kept plugging along during her show. Towards the end, though, she implored the crowd to sing-a-long with her. When she busted out "Two Pieces," the audience immediately set to honoring her request. From then on, the crowd sang along nonstop, which was glorious.
5. "Thriller." Lovato had told the crowd earlier that she loved Halloween, so it was fitting that she did a cover of the Michael Jackson hit. She even got in on the dancing action, every now and then flashing a wide grin. It was clear she was enjoying herself, and the crowd was thrilled too.
