Prince Harry’s Invictus Games may be canceled, but that doesn’t mean his project with Jon Bon Jovi was put on the backburner. The Duke of Sussex and the 58-year-old rockstar just released their music collaboration (and we've already listened three times). If you didn’t know, it was revealed last month that Harry was teaming up with Bon Jovi at a recording session for a re-recording of his song “Unbroken” with the Invictus Games Choir. The release is in support of the Invictus Games Foundation of which the duke is the founder. The duo joined forces at the iconic Abbey Road studios—home to The Beatles—at the end of February. During the visit, the musician led the choir as they sang the new version of the song. After watching the recording, Harry and Bon Jovi met members of the choir and competitors from previous Invictus Games who were invited to join the celebration. The release of the song, which took place on Friday, came just days after Harry announced that this year’s Invictus Games will be postponed until May or June 2021 due to the current coronavirus pandemic. “This was an incredibly difficult decision for all of us to have to make,” he said in a clip. “And I’m so grateful for everybody that’s worked so hard over the past couple of weeks to try to find any alternative to try and carry on these Games in a different way—in a safe way. But this decision was the most sensible and the safest option for all of you—for your families and everybody else—involved in these Games.” So, while we are sad that the games are no longer happening this year, at least we have this song to listen to on repeat.

It was a little over a month ago that Prince Harry and Jon Bon Jovi stepped together into a recording studio at Abbey Road in London—the close quarters! the shared microphone!— to record the new single “Unbroken,” which would benefit the Invictus Games. Since then it’s fair to say a lot has changed, and the Invictus Games themselves, originally scheduled to take place at the Hague in May, have been postponed due to COVID-19. But “Unbroken” has pushed forward, released today with an accompanying video that features Harry prominently, but doesn’t answer what might be the burning question: did he really sing on it? http://instagram.com/p/B9G85ybJzbG Nothing in the video implies that he did—the vocals are credited primarily to the members of the Invictus Games choir, service men and women who were injured in combat, with Bon Jovi stepping in with guitar and accompaniment. Harry talks in the beginning to Bon Jovi about his passion for helping combat veterans cope with PTSD and other stressors in positive ways, which was part of his motivation for founding the Invictus Games in 2014. He also shows up in the recording studio at the end to greet the members of the choir, and pose for the photo on the famous Abbey Road crosswalk that made the rounds back in February. But there is no sign of the brief clip that was teased on the Sussex Royal Instagram, of Harry and the[ rock star cozying up to the microphone and taking a deep breath to sing.... something. http://instagram.com/p/B9HVG-VJZn_ Are Harry’s vocals layered in the chorus somewhere? It’s certainly possible, and even more possible that he contributed something to the song but didn’t want to steal focus from the 12 members of the Invictus Games choir. And after all, Bon Jovi did say that both Harry and his brother William (who sang with Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift at a benefit concert at Kensington Palace in 2013) have “a great set of pipes.” Devoted Harry sleuths may want to spend time streaming the song to suss out whether his voice is in there—and given that all proceeds will benefit the Invictus Games foundation, that little bit of mystery may all just be part of the charitable plan.

Much has been said of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move from England to Canada to the United States. Since the world is going through a major health crisis right now, the Sussexes haven’t had a chance to find their footing in Los Angeles just yet. And according to new sources, Harry is having major conflicting emotions about their move. But don’t worry, he doesn’t regret moving at all and is pumped to be in California with Meghan and Archie. According to a People source, “They are positive about the future. It is exciting for them to mark the end of the transition and the official start of their new chapter.” That said, apparently, Harry does feel kinda bad about leaving the United Kingdom and stepping back from the royal family during a global pandemic. To make matters even more stressful, Harry’s dad, Prince Charles, recently tested positive for coronavirus. An Us Weekly source explained, “Despite their ups and downs, hearing that his dad is sick with a potentially life-threatening illness is a huge wake-up call. And he’s overwhelmed with feelings of guilt for not being closer to home while this is all going on.” When Charles initially tested positive, he reportedly told Harry and Prince William over the phone. The source added, “During the heart-wrenching call, he confessed to feeling beyond helpless, being over 5,000 miles away in L.A.” Fortunately, Charles has since recovered from the virus, so hopefully that’s a weight lifted off Harry’s shoulders. As of yesterday, more than 25,000 people in the UK tested positive for coronavirus. It’s definitely a strange and tense time for Harry to have moved away, but he and Meghan are focused on helping people and organizations while practicing social distancing and remaining inside.
