Prepare to be even more shocked than usual by The Masked Singer. The promo, which aired after the premiere, for this Wednesday's episode promised something "so unexpected" and "so shocking" that has never happened in the history of the show. According to Ken Jeong, "It's gonna change the show forever!" So what is this shocking, unexpected event that has host Nick Cannon calling for help? Well, we've solved the mystery. A source close to the show tells E! news exclusively that during this week's episode, before any of the voting begins, one of the contestants takes off their mask and eliminates themselves from the competition. The move takes Nick and all of the panelists completely by surprise, and they decide not to hold a vote so all of the other contestants in Group B move on automatically. We'll all have to tune in on Wednesday to find out who the rogue unmasker is, but whoever they are, we haven't yet heard them sing. This week features the debut of Group B, including Crocodile, Serpent, Gremlin, Seahorse, Baby Alien and Whatchamacallit. Meet the Cast of The Masked Singer Season 4 Group A—Popcorn, Dragon, Sun, Giraffe and Snow Owls—were introduced in the premiere. Dragon was unmasked at the end of the episode and revealed to be rapper Busta Rhymes. The Snow Owls are the first ever duo contestants on this show, so season four is truly a season of firsts! Season four's full lineup features 16 masked contestants who will all continue to make their debuts over the next three weeks. You can meet them all in our full season four gallery.

Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer provided our first looks at six more Season 4 competitors: Seahorse, Serpent, Whatchamacallit, Baby Alien, Gremlin and Crocodile. Most were very vocally strong; even Whatchamcallit, who rapped instead of sang, stayed very on top of a song with tricky lyrics. But Gremlin, the night’s last performer, was the one outlier: His vocals were rusty and missing words. He very likely would’ve gotten voted off… had he not decided that his costume was too hot to endure for a moment longer, leading him to unmask himself at the end of the hour. When the fuzzy head came off, Gremlin was revealed to be The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke. Ahead of Episode 3 on Wednesday (Fox, 8/7c), it’s time to revisit our handy collection of clues. The goal is simple but not easy: Identify the celebs beneath the costumes before they’re unmasked. All season long, we’ll update the gallery at right with information gleaned from this week’s show, and we’ll add our (and some of your) thoughts about who’s beneath the costumes. So make sure to log your thoughts, theories and evolving guesses in the comments section!

Last week was a Masked Singer first, with Gremlin unmasking himself midshow as Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke.
While no self-elimination happened tonight, Wednesday's Group A playoffs proved to be a kooky episode nonetheless. An aristocratic Giraffe was eliminated, plus we saw a Robin Thicke impersonator, drones, and Urkel, oh my!
At the top of the show, the real Robin Thicke and fellow panelists Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as host Nick Cannon were serenaded on stage with "Blurred Lines" by a Robin impersonator, who turned out to be .... honorary fifth judge and Jeong's nemesis Joel McHale. The people at Netflix must've paid him handsomely for hosting the Tiger King special because that was one sparkly suit.
As for the actual contestants, the ladies shined tonight, with the judges particularly impressed with Popcorn's cover of Harry Styles' "Falling" and Sun's fantastic rendition of Kesha's "Praying." Scherzinger even dubbed Sun her “favorite female vocal I’ve ever heard” throughout all four seasons of the show. The Pussycat Dolls singer tends to dole out as many compliments as Shen Yun puts up billboards (how are they paying for all of them??), but in this case, we think the praise was deserved. Sun was that good.
The show's first singing duo, Snow Owls, also did a great job with Meghan Trainor and John Legend's "Like I'm Gonna Lose You." We had no idea how much the show was missing duets until they arrived and moved us with A Great Big World's "Say Something" in the premiere. Based on these performances, we think they absolutely have a shot at cracking the final three.
Tonight TMS also added some socially distanced fun to the proceedings with on-stage clues delivered via drone. Jeong had a riot with the clue packages, leading to his pièce de résistance — yammering on about Giraffe's clues so long that the long-necked contestant went to lie down on the stage and McCarthy put on her travel pillow and took a nap.
Unfortunately, that might've been Giraffe's highlight of the night, as his cover of Kool and the Gang's "Get Down on It" wasn't able to stand out among the competition. Giraffe was informed he was the one to be sent home and he took off his mask to reveal ... Beverly Hills, 90210 star Brian Austin Green!
In the first episode, Giraffe had lots of carnival clues, mentioned that music is in his blood but he "took a gigantic risk and became the butt of everyone's jokes," and there was a reference to knots. Both of Green's parents were musicians and he even had a brief (and not well-received) rap career that saw him producing one album titled One Stop Carnival. Additionally, he appeared on the soap opera Knots Landing as a teen.
And tonight, Giraffe's clue package teased foxes, peaches, "the blink of an eye," and a domino. And guess what? Green was married to Megan Fox and the network Fox was home to 90210, the Peach Pit was the main characters' hangout in the '90s teen drama, and he appeared in the movies Don't Blink and Domino.
The panelists, all of whom (except Jeong) have racked up one correct first impressions guess, struck out this episode. Jeong had will.i.am, Scherzinger named Dale Earnhardt Jr., McCarthy wrote Travis Barker, and Thicke guessed Jaleel White, who famously portrayed Steve Urkel on Family Matters. It's a rare and special day when someone beats out Jeong for worst guess, and Thicke certainly did that tonight. McHale was actually the closest, as he predicted Giraffe was Jason Priestley, Green's 90210 costar. Green's other costar — and onscreen girlfriend — Tori Spelling competed as the Unicorn on season 1.

The Masked Singer BABY ALIEN: Ken Puts The Baby To Sleep Needs To Be Pulled Off Stage! “The Masked Dancer,” a spinoff of Fox’s wildly popular singing competition “The Masked Singer,” is set to start shooting in Los Angeles this weekend. The network is ramping up the same rigorous health and safety protocols that it put in place for “The Masked Singer” and Ken Jeong’s “I Can See Your Voice,” which premiered last month. Safety measures include regular testing, zoning, social distancing, sanitization and non-sharing of communal areas, Deadline reported. Fox Entertainment’s chief Rob Wade said they are working closely with local and state officials, as well as the unions on protocols to create an environment where all involved can work safely and manage those conditions. “Our focus is just to create an environment where people can work safely and manage those conditions,” he said of the Ellen DeGeneres-produced show derived from a segment of her daytime talk show where she and guests must guess the identity of a celebrity dancer. For the Fox format, celebrity contestants will perform unique dances, while covered from head-to-toe in elaborate costumes and face masks, leaving audiences to guess their identities. The audience will be digitally-enhanced virtual audience, as seen on season four of “The Masked Singer.” The reality series was announced in January 2020 at the Television Critics Association press tour.

The Masked Singer revealed the face behind the Lips on Wednesday night (Oct. 28), and the sparkly red pout, of course, was talk show host Wendy Williams. Williams was part of Group C, which also included Squiggly Monster, Mushroom, and Jellyfish. She delivered an energetic rendition of Odyssey's "Native New Yorker," though the performance was her last. While Ken Jeong thought Mariah Carey was behind the Lips and Robin Thicke guessed Sandra Bernhard, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger both correctly named Williams as their first impression. After she was unmasked, the talk show host revealed why she chose the Lips as her costume. "Well, first of all, they're fabulous," she said. "I can't sing, I can't dance, but I know how to have fun." Williams joins previously unmasked season four contestants Mark Sanchez (Baby Alien), Brian Austin Green (Giraffe), Mickey Rourke (Gremlin) and Busta Rhymes (Dragon).
