Selena Gomez called in to Apple Music on Friday (April 10) alongside Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter to chat about writing her new single "Boyfriend." Tranter, who's collaborated with the pop star dating all the way back to her Revival-era singles like "Good For You" and "Hands to Myself," referred to the chorus of the new song as "maybe my favorite chorus I've ever been a part of." Michaels also revealed that the idea for the song came from a text sent by Gomez to her two pals. "It happened literally from a text message," Michaels told Zane Lowe. "I can say this message specifically, because again, when I want to do more, it is sometimes like, 'You know what? Today I just don't know what I'm actually feeling, so maybe it's not going to be anything,'" Gomez added. "But I text[ed] her, I said, 'Well, it's like I feel like I've covered everything on the album. I was like, I don't know. Life's good. I want a boyfriend. That's about it.' And she's like, ' , whatever. And I come in the studio and that's literally the title.'" "The text message said 'I want,' not 'need,' Tranter added. "Very important words. And so we made sure to make that very clear because no one needs a f---ing boyfriend. You can want one. But no one needs one."

Selena Gomez appreciates more than just Tom Petty's classic music. Turns out, the singer also has an appreciation for his taste in architecture too. The 27-year-old splashed a cool $4.9 million on an Encino mansion that was formerly owned by the "Free Fallin" singer. The over 11,000 sq. ft. home was custom built by the rocker and his wife Jane Benyo in 1989 and is thus built to the desire of a music super star, though it's recently been renovated with modern finishings while maintaining the core style as Petty intended. It can only be described as a modern and airy lodge with the decor of a California beach home. Now that the palatial estate is owned by the "Rare" singer, she will likely put her own touch on the home styling and will have plenty of space to do as she pleases. There are six bedrooms and 10 baths, not to mention plenty of bonus rooms for the star to use at leisure. One of the features that likely drew Gomez to the estate is the in-home recording booth, a must-have for any musician. And when she isn't hard at work creating her next hit, the former Disney star can take advantage of a lower level wine cellar, gym, massage room, work space and an additional kitchen.

Though Rare was released in January 2020, Gomez hasn’t slowed down in recent months. She revealed her Rare Beauty line, and teased that there was more music to come, including a song intriguingly titled “Boyfriend.” http://instagram.com/p/BjBbAXSAgee The music video for the song, which is among the new bonus tracks on her Rare (Deluxe) album, dropped on April 10, 2020. In it, Gomez sing about wanting a boyfriend, even though she doesn’t need one. The video sees her going on dates with guys she doesn’t like, and turning them into frogs. Gomez dons a number of stunning outfits in the video. In one scene, she wears a sparkly gown and a large necklace, which appears to be a snake of some sort. And Seventeen writes that this could be pointing to the singer’s allegiance to her pal, Swift. Fans will recall that Swift was called a snake (typically via emojis) repeatedly during the saga that was the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West drama of the past few years. The Grammy winner turned that into her calling card during the Reputation era. So perhaps Gomez was showing her support for Swift with this jewelry choice. http://instagram.com/p/BYI48JxniO3 As for Bieber, fans were on the lookout for references to Gomez’s ex. The allusion to her other ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, was obvious: He had a scene with a frog in the video for his 2019 single “Heartless.” But the Bieber nod was a bit smaller. According to fans on Twitter, the “shade” comes at 2:07. Gomez is seen throwing the vial she used to turn the men into frogs into her glove compartment, where there is also a ring box. There’s a theory that Bieber proposed to Gomez back in 2018, and her song “Ring” is thought to confirm that. Though she’ll likely never confirm this Easter egg, it’s fun to wonder.

Is it a celebrity feud, or just an oversight? This could be the case for many supposed “snub” in the entertainment industry. Demi Lovato’s “I Love Me” playlist contains hits from the hottest pop stars of 2020 — but Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are nowhere to be found. Was this a petty choice, or something less nefarious? Here’s what we know. http://instagram.com/p/gcOOP2OjON The story of Gomez and Lovato’s friendship is a long one. The two met when they starred in the ’90s children’s show Barney & Friends together. The two rising stars then joined the Disney Channel around the same time, starring in their own shows and even working together on a couple of occasions. But they’ve had their falling outs over the years. Both have spoken about growing apart, but at least part of their feud is thought to be about Gomez growing close with Swift. The two former Disney darlings were last seen making amends in 2017. In the years since, there’s been mostly silence.

Selena Gomez already owns two mansions in L.A., as Yahoo Entertainment reports, but what’s another for the star? A third residence was recently purchased by Gomez- a “$4.9 million, six-bedroom, 10-bathroom megamansion", and you'll never guess who it belonged to! The spacious pad was previously owned by the late musician Tom Petty, who custom-built the place in 1989 with his then-wife. The home is nicely secluded and boasts some awesome amenities. It has lots of rooms, and even a music studio, media room, a massage room, and a yoga studio and gym. For Gomez’ safety, the home interestingly has “hidden passageways and secret panic rooms for extra security,” according to Yahoo Entertainment. Sounds pretty creative and cool, just like Gomez herself. She’ll be sharing the new home with a new friend. As we recently reported on The Things, Gomez just adopted a puppy named Daisy. What a cute companion to have during quarantine. Daisy and her other pooch, Winnie are sure to enjoy exploring the new place. Must be nice to have a “mom” with that kind of money.
