Like many others, Mariah Carey is searching for answers following the death of George Floyd. The iconic singer took to social media Saturday (May 30) to sing a snippet of her 1990 song "There's Got to Be a Way" while demanding justice for Floyd, a black man who was recently killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis. "I wrote this song for my first album. Still looking for answers today. We have to make a change. We can't be silent," Carey captioned the video, adding the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. Earlier this week, a video of Floyd's death surfaced, showing officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on the neck of Floyd for eight minutes. Chauvin was later charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Floyd. In her post, Carey encouraged fans to text 'FLOYD' to 55156 to demand #JusticeForFloyd. The campaign is part of Color of Change petition calling for the officers involved in Floyd's death to be blocked from working in law enforcement ever again and to have murder charges pressed against them. "I don't understand how there can be regulated bigotry," Carey sings in the clip. "There's got to be a way to connect this world today." Carey joins a long list of celebrities speaking out after Floyd's death, including Beyonce, Rihanna, Ice Cube, Ariana Grande and others. See her full post below. http://instagram.com/p/CA0K-oLgFE3

Ariana held a "Black Lives Matter" sign as she marched in the streets of Los Angeles. Ariana Grande immediately advocated for #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd on Twitter, urging her 74 million followers to "put pressure on DA Mike Freeman" to arrest the involved officers. She also reminded her followers on Twitter and Instagram that there are primaries coming up — which can be instrumental to solving these important systemic issues:

On May 29, 30, and 31, protests were held in nearly every major city across America to demonstrate against the death of George Floyd, with the National Guard now activated in at least 15 states. While some protests took a violent turn with lots of looting and arrests, others remained peaceful, with several celebrities choosing to march on the streets in solidarity with others to demand further justice for Floyd’s death. As documented on her Instagram Stories, Ariana Grande joined a Los Angeles protest on Saturday afternoon, where she wore a mask and a sign that read “Black Lives Matter.” Marching in a different Los Angeles protest was Halsey; however, she recorded on social media how police officers were fighting back against the crowds. “Fired rubber bullets at us. We did not breach the line,” the musician wrote. “Hands were up. Unmoving. And they gassed and fired.” Joining the Saturday protests elsewhere in Los Angeles was model Emily Ratajkowski, who said that the police were “militarized and civilians had no weapons.” She added, “these are not violent protests but they become violent when an actual Army is deployed.” Tinashe and Insecure actor Kendrick Sampson were also present in L.A., with Sampson documenting on Instagram Live how the police hit him with rubber bullets and a baton.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes joined those marching at Miami's Black Lives Matter protest yesterday in the wake of George Floyd's murder by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Miami Herald reporter Bianca Padró Ocasio shared photo of the two protesting. The couple's appearance at the protest comes one day after both Cabello and Mendes made calls for change on their Instagram. It also comes five months after Cabello publicly apologized for her racist old Tumblr posts. In December, a Twitter thread went viral that captured screenshots of Cabello using the n-word and posting racist gifs on her personal Tumblr in 2012 and 2013, when she was around 14. Cabello apologized publicly on December 18, 2019. She wrote her Instagram and Twitter that "when I was younger, I used language that I’m deeply ashamed of and will regret forever. I was uneducated and ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the true meaning behind this horrible and hurtful language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it....As much as I wish I could, I can’t go back in time and change things I said in the past. But once you know better, you do better, and that’s all I can do." This content is imported from Twitter. On Saturday, Cabello implored her fans to sign a petition demanding justice for Floyd. http://instagram.com/p/CA0SCisJrXk "I’ve been trying to find the right words to say after I saw the video where George Floyd’s life is being taken from him with impunity... I am so sorry to George Floyd’s family and Ahmaud Arbery’s family, And Breonna Taylor’s family and to the countless other black families that have their children and parents being taken away from them," she wrote in her caption. "I stand with you in outrage and I have called Minnesota Governor Walz, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison , and Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, their numbers and what to say is on the ACLU website, and I urge you to please call, please sign the petitions, and let’s stand together for justice. We need a change, we can’t afford to be silent, and we can’t afford a society that’s indifferent to others pain. #BlackLivesMatter #WeCantBreathe." This content is imported from Instagram. Lea Michele has come under fire for her treatment of her ‘Glee’ co-stars George Floyd did not deserve this. This was not an isolated incident and it must end. #BlackLivesMatter — Lea Michele (@leamichele) May 29, 2020 Here’s what happened. In response to Michele’s above tweet, Samantha Marie Ware, who portrayed Jane Hayward in Glee Season 6, wrote on Twitter that Michele made “traumatic microaggressions” against her and “made my first television gig a living h*ll.” This led to numerous other cast members, like Amber Riley (Mercedes Jones) and Alex Newell (Wade “Unique” Adams), chiming in. Even her co-star in The Mayor, Yvette Nicole Brown, participated. Michele lost her deal with HelloFresh, according to the brand’s Twitter account. Her feud with cast member Naya Rivera has resurfaced http://instagram.com/p/i75m6uRKHm Michele doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to her relationships with her co-stars. For years, there were rumors that she and Naya Rivera, who portrayed Santana Lopez, were feuding. Their characters didn’t get along, so it was easy for them to brush these comments off for the good of the show. But once Glee came to an end, they were able to speak more freely. Rivera wrote in her 2016 autobiography Sorry Not Sorry (as transcribed by E! News) that the two “are both strong willed and competitive” and that Michele “didn’t like sharing the spotlight.” Michele has wholly denied any feud in interviews.
