Watch live coverage as former President Obama participates in a virtual town hall hosted by My Brother's Keeper Alliance on “Reimagining Policing in the Wake of Continued Police Violence.”
At a time when America is in desperate need of leadership, and the current “President” Donald Trump is offering the precise opposite of leadership, here comes President Obama. He’s holding a virtual town hall event later today to discuss the death of George Floyd, in what is sure to attract a large audience.
There is no official word yet on whether the various cable news network might air all or part of President Obama’s town hall [Update, 2:23pm: CNN now says it’ll be airing the event]. Given the widespread interest, we expect they’ll show at least portions of it. But even if they don’t, you can watch the event on an internet live stream at obama.org.

Demonstrations on Tuesday were largely peaceful after Monday's military and law enforcement show of force, in Washington D.C., where demonstrators were cleared from an area around a park near the White House in a show of force by authorities to clear a path for President Trump and advisors to have a photo opportunity from an historic church on Lafayette Square.
Minneapolis and other U.S. cities brace for more heated demonstrations after protesters and police across the nation continue to clash in the wake of George Floyd's death.
More than 6,000 arrests have been made at demonstrations nationwide since video emerged showing former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin holding his knee to Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes. On Monday, President Donald Trump chastised governors for failing to halt the looting, vandalism and violence.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot declined Thursday to comment on video from the Brickyard Mall where an officer knelt on a woman, saying it’s an ongoing investigation, but promised that the police oversight agency investigating “is doing everything it can to identify the officers and then make an appropriate recommendation.”
Meanwhile, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office said that it was conducting its own review of the incident in collaboration with the FBI. Hours earlier, the attorney for the woman, Mia Wright, demanded a criminal investigation.
Also on Thursday, Lightfoot said the city will not tolerate vigilantism after groups of mostly white men patrolled the streets of Bridgeport on Wednesday night in response to a nearby city protest. The situation in Bridgeport frightened and angered many residents and activists who expressed concerns about racism and violence.
Additionally, state health officials are urging anyone who participated in mass gatherings following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis to be tested for COVID-19, and said tests are now available to everyone regardless of symptoms at 11 state-run sites.coNynQ
