Piers Morgan has called for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to have their titles taken off them after Meghan Markle commented on the 2020 US election. Markle encouraged people to ensure they were registered to vote during an appearance at the online When All Women Vote event. While the Duchess did not endorse a specific candidate, she claimed those who did not vote would be “complicit”, warning “we all know what’s at stake this year”. Addressing viewers, the 39-year-old said: “We vote to honour those who came before us and to protect those that come after us. That's what community is all about and that's specifically what this election is all about. “You’re just as mobilised and energised to see the change we all need and deserve. This fight is worth fighting and we all need to be out there mobilising to have our voices heard.” She added: “If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. If you are complacent, you are complicit. “We can make a difference in this election and we will make a difference in this election.” According to UK law, royalty are able to vote, though it would be considered unconstitutional if they did. Following Markle’s comments, Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan took to Twitter to demand action, labelling her comments “brazenly partisan”.

Meghan Markle is continuing to use her voice to speak out on the importance of voting, this time in conversation with feminist icon Gloria Steinem. http://instagram.com/p/CEUuTr-l__r The two women sat down for a "historic backyard chat" to "discuss representation, why each vote matters and how all women 'are linked, not ranked,' " according to a preview shared by MAKERS Women Instagram page. The black-and-white video shows Meghan and Steinem sitting outdoors with a wooden table between them — and at one point, Meghan and Prince Harry's two dogs, Guy and Pula, crash the party! http://instagram.com/p/CEXSsiSlFRI "Wants to be on camera," Steinem says with a laugh as the dogs laying at Meghan's feet. "Meg, welcome home," the author and activist says to the Duchess of Sussex. "I'm so glad that you're home." The duo spoke about the importance of women — especially young women — voting in the upcoming election. "People forget how hard women like you and so many others before you fought for us to just be where we are right now," Meghan said. "If you don't vote, you don't exist," Steinem replied as Meghan nodded in agreement. "It is the only place we're all equal, the voting booth."

Prince Harry and Meghan said there had been changes in the UK in the past 30 years but "sufficient progress had not been achieved". They were writing in the London Evening Standard as they highlighted leaders in the UK's black community. The couple recently urged voters in the US election to "reject hate". The duke and duchess have moved to Barbara with their son Archie and agreed a deal to create shows for the streaming service Netflix, having stepped back as senior royals in January.

The Duke of Sussex has opened up about how Meghan Markle changed his understanding of unconscious bias. Prince Harry, who resigned as a working member of the royal family earlier this year, said he previously didn't realize that unconscious bias existed because of his "upbringing and education." The prince made the observation during a virtual conversation with the Black Lives Matter activist Patrick Hutchinson, who carried an injured white counter-protester to safety in London in June. "It's when you can't really point the fingers, especially when it comes to unconscious bias, but once you realize or feel a little bit uncomfortable then the onus is on you to go out and educate yourself because ignorance is no longer an excuse," Harry said during the conversation. "Unconscious bias, from my understanding, having had the upbringing and education that I had, I had no idea what it was. I had no idea that it existed," he added. "As sad as it is to say, it took me many, many years to realize it. Especially then living a day or a week in my wife's shoes." Hutchinson said: "You have to be willing to listen and have the conversation, have those uncomfortable conversations. Because it is an uncomfortable conversation, and I totally get it. Especially for a white person. Who wants to be told that they may potentially have a little bit of racism in them?"

The Duke of Sussex has admitted his upbringing as a member of the Royal Family meant he had no understanding of unconscious racial bias. Prince Harry said it took him many years - and the experience of "living" in his wife Meghan's shoes - to recognise the issue. "I had no idea it existed," he said. The duke made the remarks in conversation with Black Lives Matter supporter Patrick Hutchinson at the launch of British GQ's Heroes Festival. Mr Hutchinson, a personal trainer, rose to fame after he was photographed carrying an injured white man to safety during a clash between protest groups, an act which Harry praised him for. Speaking from his home in Barbara, California, via video call, the duke said said: "No one's pointing the fingers. You can't really point fingers, especially when it comes to unconscious bias. "But once you realise or you feel a little bit uncomfortable, then the onus is on you to go out and educate yourself because ignorance is no longer an excuse. "And unconscious bias, from my understanding, having the upbringing and the education that I had, I had no idea what it was. I had no idea it existed. "And then, sad as it is to say, it took me many, many years to realise it, especially then living a day or a week in my wife's shoes."
